A few months ago, I complained about the crop of choices we had locally here in Palm Beach County in the 2010 elections. Again, I must take that back. Our new Governor seems to be doing a good job so far as he tries to undo everything (up) Chuck Crist did. We also have a wonderful new Attorney General who is brilliant, knows the law, and has been far more of a leader in the fight against BHO's attempt at healthcare destruction than any of you know. I don't have much to say about Rubio yet other than a skeptical "we'll see".
At the top of the list of successes and those with potential upside represents my very district in the House of Representatives. He has a distinguished military career, understands the need to make tough decisions and above all, realizes that our military strength and world economic status are tied together.

At the same time, he also realizes that America cannot afford to play world cop anymore and our military and defensive capabilities should go to protecting Americans first. The man I am naming is Lt.Col. Allen West. West has fought on the ground in Afganistan, and has helped run a corporation.

During the 2010 campaign, Lt. Col West promised unprecedented access to his constituents and last night, he took the first step in keeping that promise. He flew down from DC (not on Pelosi's winged limo) just to do a town hall with the voters. The town hall was free, even the parking was free. Donations were asked for to help The Wounded Warrior Project (tm) that provides assistance to injured soldiers coming home from Iraq and Afganistan.

Thanks to Al Gore and his Global warming faux pax (snow in DC), West arrived somewhat late but it was well worth it. During the Town Hall, West gave his own SOTU of sorts, although has was a tad less sugar coated and a whole lot shorter than BHO's
.
After that, Lt. Col West took every question from every person in the crowd and made sure he answered every question in detail. West went to the trouble to take the questions from those who voted against him first.
He did get a couple of idiotic questions in the realm of "why haven't you achieved world peace or solved every economic problem". His replies were simple: "It's only been 3 weeks with only 4 days of work, give us some time as I think we need to be working more too. The best answer of all was when somebody who appeared to be quite intoxicated asked Lt. Col. West about Marijuana laws. He calmly replied that he wasn't against having theat debate but this just didn't seem to be the time to do so. That had a most "Libertarian" ring to it from my viewpoint

Most of you will be happy to know that despite "Don't Ask Don't Tell", Lt. Col West skipped out on "date night" at the SOTU, choosing to boycott rather than allow his voice to be buried by a marxist seated on either side of him. Since his district stretches over 2 very populated counties, Lt. Col West will be coming down next week to do a second town hall for the other County. I hope that your Representatives, especially those who won with grassroots (tea party) support are giving you similar accessibility.

This first free public access Town Hall meeting really helped me realize how much of a difference we have made in the last two years. A year ago, West's predecessor, Ron Klein (D) would have checked party affiliation and charged a hefty donation to his campaign and ensured that a "velvet rope" prevented common people from getting close to the elites.

I hope you will join me in giving Representative West your support just as he will stand up and say what needs to be said and then do what needs to be done to empower Americans to build a tomorrow that causes BHO and his cronies to lose sleep at night.
