Tha...You are right about 2012 being a cooler phase. That should coincide with the shift from the warm Atlantic multidecadal oscillation (AMO) to the cool AMO cycle. Water tends to act like a battery, storing heat from the sun. Land heats and cools rapidly depending on how much energy it receives from the sun. When Ocean temperatures are slightly warmer, surrounding land is much warmer. The Pacific has been in a warm cycle for 15 years now which ended in 2006. Since then, winters in Alaska have been much colder. The Atlantic warm cycle lags behind the Pacific and is almost over. By 2012, it will be completely over. These cyclical shifts in ocean temps will have large impacts on land temperatures as the waters cool. Without the stored heat in the water, lands will retain less heat in the winter months. Also, the AMO and PDO take place in the Earth's northern hemisphere. 80% of the land masses are in the Northern Hemisphere so the climatic shift will be far more pronounced than if the land was split 50/50. Then again though, I am not college educated. I just study hurricanes.Andrew33https://www.blogger.com/profile/12727106195950368976noreply@blogger.com
