Representatives Cleaver, Clay, Carnahan, Vote Yes on Healthcare…

Normally I attempt to maintain a certain level of civility and decorum.  I shy away from profanity, I try to use logic, reason, and historical evidence to make well thought out arguments.  But for William Lacy Clay, Russ Carnahan, and Emanuel Cleaver II I have a message for you:

Carnahan:I just Stuck This Fist in the Ass of the American PeopleCleaver, Nancy said she would use a Stick this big  Clay: I am a Douche BAG!

I run a small blog.  I do not have a lot of money, and I have little chance of affecting any politicians outside this state.  But, Mark My Words You Worthless Sons of Bitches,  you better pray to whatever deity you believe in that you do not so much as FART IMPOLITELY . You better make sure you do not have any skeletons in your closet.  Because if I can find any dirt, any shred of malfeasance, or any impropriety to anything you do I will email every person I know and use my lowly twitter and blogger contacts to make for damn sure that everyone I know, knows what you did.  I hereby dedicate a large portion of my blogging life to ensuring that you never hold office again. Enjoy it while you can, scumbags.

You may live in fear of San Fran Nan right now, but, By Gawd, you WILL learn to fear a pissed off citizen.

eyes on youSo say your prayers, eat your vitamins, and live clean because the eyes of Missouri are upon you.

When it comes to it, this goes for you too, because I know what you will do. Associates like the one pictured here are not helping your cause.

Have I Mentioned That I Really Like

Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R, Tn)? Well, I do. Just watched her on a DVR'd episode (I know, get a Life) of Hannity. She is an intelligent, well spoken, tough, conservative, and attractive woman. What is not to like? She needs to get more media exposure. Palin, Blackburn, Bachmann, there is a trend forming here. More and more the real rising stars of conservativism are bright and attractive women. Something the libs have very few of. They are mostly of the homely, shrill, hateful women variety. I have always thought the louder you are and the more you repeat mantras the less intelligent you are. By that measure most of the uber lib women are pretty un-intelligent.
I find it interesting that so many of the voices I hear speaking true conservatism and really making me have some hope that someone in D.C. Gets it, are Women. Look who is probably the most conservative leader in Europe, Angela Merkel of Germany. I would have zero problem supporting any of these, and several others, for higher office.

I found one of the Mother Ships…a veritable nest of filthy weasels…Vermont, today on: Rate the Weasel.

I do not know how I can grade the whole state on Gradegov but it is just too hard to pick just one weasel when this state seems to be one of the mother ships.

Vermont used to be republican, but was always more liberal than other states. I guess when viewed through the landslide election of Ronaldus Magnus all states pretty much used to be republican. Vermont began the long slide into weaseldom when it began supporting Bill Clinton. Then Vermont gave Barack Obama his third largest winning margin (37 percentage points) winning there 68%-31%. Today, Vermont is one of only two states represented by a member of the United States Congress who does not currently associate with a political party: Senator Bernie Sanders describes his political views as democratic socialism, but is officially registered as an independent and caucuses with the Democrats in the selection of the Senate leadership.

Bernard "Bernie" Sanders (born September 8, 1941) is the junior United States Senator from Vermont, elected on November 7, 2006. Before becoming Senator, Sanders represented Vermont's at-large district in the United States House of Representatives for 16 years.

Sanders is a self-described democratic socialist, but because he does not belong to a formal political party, he appears as an independent on the ballot. Sanders caucuses with the Democratic Party and is counted as a Democrat for the purposes of committee assignments

Sanders was also endorsed by Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada, and Democratic National Committee chairman and former Vermont governor Howard Dean. Dean said in May 2005 that he considered Sanders an ally who voted with House Democrats. Sen. Barack Obama also campaigned for Sanders in Vermont. Sanders entered into an agreement with the Democratic Party to be listed in their primary but to decline the nomination should he win, which he did easily

Sanders and Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) introduced the Global Warming Pollution Reduction Act of 2007 on January 15, 2007. The measure would have provided funding for R&D on geologic sequestration of carbon dioxide, set emissions standards for new vehicles and a renewable fuels requirement for gasoline beginning in 2016, established energy efficiency and renewable portfolio standards beginning in 2008 and low-carbon electric generation standards beginning in 2016 for electric utilities, and required periodic evaluations by the National Academy of Sciences to determine whether emissions targets are adequate

HE DID HOWEVER VOTE AGAINST TIM GEITHNER SO I GIVE HIM CRED FOR THAT

Patrick Joseph Leahy (born March 31, 1940) is the senior United States Senator from Vermont. He is a member of the Democratic Party, having the distinction of being the first and only Democratic United States Senator in Vermont's history, and is the current chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. As of 2009[update] Leahy is also fourth most senior U.S. Senator.

Leahy has held progressive political positions that are generally in line with those of the state. He has generally supported abortion rights. He has been strongly supported by the NAACP and is outspoken in his support for affirmative action. Leahy has also been one of the most gay rights-friendly members of Congress; He has supported the legalization of gay marriage and reducing discrimination against gays and lesbians. Leahy spoke strongly against a proposed constitutional ban on flag burning and on its implications for freedom of speech and expression. He rejects school prayer initiatives and plans for abstinence-only sex education. Leahy has called for a moratorium on the death penalty and more DNA testing for death row inmates. He supports rehabilitation as the goal of prisons and providing treatment instead of punishment for first time offenders. Leahy has generally supported gun control, including requiring background checks at gun shows and allowing for lawsuits against firearms manufacturers. However, he voted in favor of prohibiting US foreign aid that inhibits gun ownership [11]

Leahy has stated the importance of increasing the prevelance of public health care during times of economic downturn. He voted to increase Medicare benefits and to allow this organization to negotiate lower-priced, bulk prescriptions from pharmaceutical manufacturers. Leahy has broken with Democratic leadership in supporting allowing states to make bulk drug purchases on their own, an idea he has characterized as an important short term solution until Congress can agree on a similar proposal. Leahy has consistently voted to uphold Social Security and has opposed school vouchers. [12]

Leahy has been a strong supporter of environmental policy. He has supported bills that would increase hydrogen car production, uphold CAFE standards, set a goal of reducing oil consumption by 40 percent in 2025, and increase solar and wind power funding. He has supported the establishment of greenhouse gas tradeable allowances and has spoken out against the use of ethanol as a solution to rising gasoline prices.[13]

On taxation, Leahy has consistently supported instituting progressive rates. He has rejected proposals to remove the Estate Tax and Alternative Minimum Tax, and he has spoken out strongly against cutting taxes for the wealthy. Leahy has strongly supported the rights of employees, and has voted to increase the minimum wage and allow for more union organization.

Peter F. Welch (born May 2, 1947) is the United States Representative for the U.S. state of Vermont's at-large congressional seat. Welch’s congressional website depicts his stand on issues and legislation, as follows: Developing a “pro-Vermont family farm 2007 farm bill and advocating for other federal policies that strengthen Vermont agriculture.”;Ending the War in Iraq. Welch opposed the war before it began. ;Caring for veterans by including the support of their recovery from the effects of war in the military budget. ;Combating global warming and increasing energy independence;Providing universal health care and affordable prescription drugs to Americans.

Howard Dean (born November 17, 1948) is an American politician and physician from the U.S. state of Vermont. He served six terms as Governor of Vermont and ran unsuccessfully for the 2004 Democratic Presidential nomination. He was the Chairman of the Democratic National Committee from 2005 to 2009

As chairman of the party, Dean created and employed the "50 State Strategy" that attempted to make Democrats competitive in normally conservative states often dismissed in the past as "solid red". The success of the strategy became apparent after the 2006 midterm elections, where Democrats took back the House and picked up seats in the Senate from normally Republican states such as Missouri and Montana. In the 2008 election, Barack Obama used "The 50 state strategy" as the backbone of his candidacy, targeting voters across the country rather than primarily focusing on traditional battleground states. This led to the expansion of the battleground states from just Ohio and Florida to also include New Mexico, Indiana, North Carolina, Missouri, Virginia, and Colorado. The "50 state strategy" proved to be effective, as Obama won 53% of the popular vote, and more importantly 365 electoral votes, to become the president of the United States.

In a January 2009 interview with the Associated Press, Dean indicated he would enter the private sector after 30 years in politics. Dean told the AP he would deliver speeches and share ideas about campaigns and technology with center-left political parties around the world. When asked about not being selected for a position in the Obama administration, Dean responded, "Obviously, it would have been great, but it's not happening and the president has the right to name his own Cabinet, so I'm not going to work in the government it looks like." When asked how he felt about not being selected, Dean replied he would "punt on that one."

The AP and Politico both reported that supporters of Dean were angry that he wasn't asked to be a part of the new administration. According to Politico, Dean supporters were especially upset Dean wasn't invited to the press conference at which Tim Kaine was appointed as Democratic National Committee chairman. Joe Trippi, who was Dean’s presidential campaign manager in 2004, told Politico, "[Dean] was never afraid to challenge the way party establishment in Washington did business, and that doesn’t win you friends in either party." Trippi further explained the apparent snub of Dean by stating, "You don’t have to look any further than Rahm Emanuel." Trippi was referring to the tension between Emanuel and Dean over Dean's 50 state strategy. Sources close to Emanuel dismissed these charges, however.

Dean told Chris Matthews on MSNBC’s "Hardball" that "I didn't do this for the spoils. I did this for the country. I'm very happy that Barack Obama is president, and I think he's picked a great Cabinet. And I'm pretty happy. I wouldn't trade my position for any other position right now. I'm going to go into the private sector, make a living making speeches, and do a lot of stuff on health care policy."

After the withdraw of Tom Daschle's nomination for the position, Dean had been touted by many for the post of Secretary of Health and Human Services. After being passed over for the post once again, Dean told the Huffington Post, "I was pretty clear that I would have liked to have been Secretary of HHS but it is the president's choice and he decided to go in a different direction."

On March 23, 2009, it was announced that the financial television network CNBC had hired Dean as an on air contributor.

On March 26, 2009, Dean announced on a Democracy for America conference call with supporters across the country that he would be returning to Democracy for America to lead the fight for healthcare reform in the US.

On May 7, 2009, during an appearance on the Power Lunch, Dean tolder viewers, "I think we had quite enough capitalism in the last eight years and I think we need some regulation now".

What is wrong with the Majority of the Citizenry in Vermont? Did they smuggle themselves here from the USSR circa 1979?

Forget weasel…Rate the RAT, José Serrano

José Enrique Serrano (born October 24, 1943) is a New York politician, currently representing the state's 16th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives. His son, José M. Serrano, is a member of the New York State Senate.

Serrano's district is one of the smallest in the country geographically, consisting of a few miles of the heavily urbanized and populated South Bronx in New York City. His district is also one of the most densely populated and one of the few majority Hispanic districts in the country. Yankee Stadium is in his district. In addition to José Marco, Serrano has four other children.

A member of the Progressive Caucus, he is widely regarded as one of the most liberal members of Congress. He has been questioned about his pork barrel spending by some fiscal conservative members of Congress. Arizona Congressman Jeff Flake once said of Serrano's $150,000 earmark to repair the roof at the city-owned Arthur Avenue Market (a historic indoor produce and prepared food market in the Bronx's "Little Italy"), "I would argue this is one cannoli the taxpayer doesn’t want to take a bite of." Serrano replied to Flake: ".... I make no excuses about the fact that I earmark dollars to go in the poorest congressional district in the nation, which is situated in the richest city on earth."

On November 18, 2005, he was one of three votes in favor of immediate withdrawal of American troops from Iraq. The other two votes were from Cynthia McKinney of Georgia and Robert Wexler of Florida.

In each of 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007, and 2009, Serrano introduced a joint resolution proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the 22nd Amendment, thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as president. Each resolution, with the exception of the current one, died without ever getting past the committee.

Congressman Serrano has been a critic of the Bush administration's approach to handling President Hugo Chávez of Venezuela. In 2005, while the Venezuelan President was in New York City speaking before the United Nations, the congressman invited him to his district to speak to his constituency.

Rate the Weasel – She’s a good Weasel.

Michele Marie Bachmann (born on April 6, 1956) is a Republican politician and the Representative of Minnesota's 6th congressional district. She is the third woman and first Republican woman to represent Minnesota in Congress. She defeated her Democratic challenger, Elwyn Tinklenberg, in the 2008 election in a race that had gained national attention following her controversial televised call for the media to investigate members of Congress for perceived anti-American bias, including Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama. The 6th congressional district includes the northern far suburbs of the Twin Cities along with St. Cloud. She won 50 percent of the votes in the 2006 election, defeating Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party candidate Patty Wetterling and the Independence Party's John Binkowski. Bachmann served in the Minnesota State Senate from 2001 to 2007.

Bachmann introduced the Light Bulb Freedom of Choice Act, to repeal the nationwide phase-out of conventional light bulbs. She argued that the government has no business telling consumers what kind of light bulbs they can buy: "By 2012, incandescent light bulbs will be no more," Bachmann said. "Fluorescent bulbs are more polluting because of their mercury content. We are working on a light bulb bill. If the Democrats can hose up a light bulb, don't trust them with the country."

During the summer of 2008 as national gas prices rose to over $4 a gallon, Bachmann became a leading Congressional advocate for increased domestic oil and natural gas exploration in ANWR and the Outer Continental Shelf.

Bachmann opposed both versions of the Wall Street bailout bill for America’s struggling financial sector.

She voted against the first proposed $700 billion dollar bailout of financial institutions, which failed to pass 205–228, and instead advocated a plan that would suspend mark-to-market accounting rules. She also advocated for breaking up Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, suspending the capital gains tax, and barring executives from excessive compensation or golden parachutes.

Bachmann also opposed the Big Three bailout for the American auto industry. The “Big Three” refers to Ford, Chrysler, and General Motors, who approached Congress to ask for roughly $15-billion to keep them operational into 2009. Bachmann criticized the bill over fear that the initial sum of money would be followed by subsequent ones without the companies making changes to revive their business. According to Bachmann, her alternative would set hard benchmarks for reducing their debt and renegotiating deals labor and would set up the financial assistance as interim insurance instead of a taxpayer-financed bailout.

In a nutshell the new Democrat Governor of MO wants a big increase in Medicaid and healthcare spending in Missouri, the republicans somewhat balked at the most ridiculous of the spending and now the Reps are accusing the Dems and the Governor of a “pay to play” sort of “back scratching” deal.

I am not in favor of ever increasing entitlements.

House Republicans reject health care bill, accuse Nixon of bribery - Columbia Missourian

Thursday, May 7, 2009 12:01 a.m. CDT

BY Chris Dunn

JEFFERSON CITY — Missouri House Republicans accused the governor's office Wednesday of attempted bribery to win votes for a health care bill that they later rejected.

Gov. Jay Nixon's office said the claims were an attempt to distract attention from the bill, which would use $146.9 million to fund health care for 35,000 Missourians.

House Bill 11 was two steps away from Nixon's desk when it was voted down 85-75 in the House and sent back to committee for revision by House and Senate budget leaders. All three Columbia representatives — Democrats Chris Kelly, Mary Still and Stephen Webber — voted for the bill.

The committee, which adjourned late Wednesday night, agreed to House Republicans' request to remove the $146.9 million for Medicaid from the $7.47 billion bill. This eliminated Nixon's recommendation for restoring Medicaid to Missourians who lost health care under former Gov. Matt Blunt's administration.

Under the now-defunct language, House Bill 11 would have taken $52.6 million from hospitals and $94.3 million of federal money to fund health care for custodial adult parents whose income is at least half the federal poverty level. No general revenue would have been used to fund the health care policy.

In return, House budget leaders said they would pass Republican state Sen. Tom Dempsey's "Show-Me Health Coverage" bill in the House and into conference on Monday.

Dempsey's bill would "provide health care coverage through the private insurance market to low-income working individuals," according to the bill summary. It would fund health care for Missourians whose income is at least half the federal poverty level as well as custodial parents whose earned income meets the full federal poverty level.

House Bill 11 is one of 13 that would determine Missouri's operating budget for fiscal year 2010. House and Senate budget leaders have spent the past week in conference committee to craft compromised versions of the bills.

The 13 bills will face their final reading in the House on Thursday. If they pass the House, they will have one day to pass the Senate before going to Nixon's desk for consideration by Friday, as required by state constitutional law.

Although the original bill had bipartisan support from Senate budget leaders, House Republican budget leaders refused to sign the conference committee version. But with the removal of the $146.9 million for Medicaid, House Bill 11 was unanimously approved in committee.

Rep. Rick Stream, one of the House Republicans who did not sign the original committee bill, said Republicans wanted insurance for the uninsurable, whereas the bill language was directed at only the uninsured.

House Budget Committee chairman Allen Icet, R-Wildwood, said he originally did not sign the bill because the health care proposal does not sufficiently cover able-bodied adults.

But despite his opposition to the bill, Icet passed it on to the House floor for discussion.

"If we were going to keep the budget hostage, I wouldn't have turned the bills in yesterday," Icet said. "That is a hostage situation. Bringing the bills up to the floor for debate is not a hostage situation."

The accusations of bribery — a federal felony if accusations are substantiated — arose during House debate over the bill when one of the top House Republicans broke out in passionate speech and cited "the seedy underbelly of Missouri politics."

Speaker Pro Tem Bryan Pratt, R-Jackson County, accused Nixon's office of offering career advancements to legislators in exchange for votes to pass the bill.

"Oh, how I wish the FBI were wandering the halls today," Pratt said. "Do you know what they would find? The FBI would find walking these halls today comments from the governor's office. 'What do you need? What can I do for you? Can I give you a job? Is there something I can provide special to you?'"

House Democratic floor leader Paul LeVota, D-Independence, immediately came to the governor's defense.

"I ask the pro tem to apologize to our elected governor, the person who represents our state, for any type of wrongdoing," LeVota said after calling a point of order. "That's shameful."

One of the Republican representatives to whom Nixon's office reportedly made illegal offers was Rep. Chris Molendorp, R-Belton. The freshman representative told reporters that as a health insurance agent and member of his local hospital's board, his vote was still undecided when he came to the Statehouse on Wednesday.

But Molendorp said the offer made by Nixon's deputy chief of staff, Dustin Allison, was enough to clinch his vote against the bill's passage.

"The gentleman that called me into the hall said that the governor wanted to know if I shared his vision and that those members who did share his vision — because House Bill 11 was so important to him — would be viewed favorably and if I was interested in a future career change, he was sure that would be looked upon favorably as well," Molendorp said.

"There was no specific job, nor a dollar amount," Molendorp said. "But the implication was unfortunately pretty clear. And as somebody who was on the fence on this bill, it crystallized my position because this was inappropriate."

Nixon's communications director, Jack Cardetti, denied all claims of attempted bribery and called them "an attempt to distract from the issue at hand."

Instead, Cardetti said Republican legislators have been coming to the governor's office to ask for jobs since the transition period began in November.

"While we're committed to a bipartisan administration, we have never offered any state rep a job, nor would we ever offer them a job in exchange for a legislative favor," Cardetti said. "The issue is, do you provide health care to 35,000 Missourians with no cost to taxpayers?

"This was a big vote today," Cardetti said. "It's no wonder the Republicans want to distract people's attention away from it. Obviously they're making baseless accusations here because they don't want to account for their vote today."

When interviewed by reporters, Molendorp displayed Allison's business card and identified him as Nixon's staffer who talked to him. Cardetti confirmed that Allison and other members of Nixon's staff had lobbied both Republican and Democratic representatives to vote for the bill.

"Members of the staff regularly lobby legislators," Cardetti said. Part of the lobbying process involves the exchange of business cards, which Cardetti said explains why Molendorp had Allison's card.

Jo Ann Emerson (born September 16, 1950) is an American politician from the U.S. state of Missouri currently serving her seventh term in the U.S. House of Representatives. She represents Missouri's 8th congressional district which consists of Southeast and South Central Missouri and includes the Missouri part of the Cape GirardeauJackson, MO-IL Metropolitan Statistical Area, the Bootheel, the Lead Belt and the Ozarks. The largest cities in the district are Cape Girardeau, Jackson, Sikeston, Poplar Bluff, Farmington, Rolla, Kennett, and West Plains. Emerson is a member of the Republican Party.

Emerson was born in Bethesda, Maryland and graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University. She married then-lobbyist and future U.S. Representative Bill Emerson (R-Cape Girardeau) on June 22, 1975. He was 12 years her senior. …Bill was elected to the U.S. Congress in 1980 from Missouri's 10th Congressional District and, subsequent to redistricting, was reelected in 1982 from the 8th District. He handily retained his seat through 1994, his final election, before succumbing to cancer on June 22, 1996. The Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge, which links Missouri to Illinois across the Mississippi River, was dedicated to commemorate his efforts to obtain federal funding for its construction.

Emerson's voting record has been mostly conservative, though it has become more centrist in recent years. She has a lifetime rating of 83 from the American Conservative Union. During the 110th Congress, Emerson voted with the Democrats on several issues including Medicare prescription-drug negotiations, raising the minimum wage, funding stem cell research and on new budget rules during the Democrats' 100-Hour Plan

Debbie Wasserman Schultz Today on Rate the Weasel

Debbie Wasserman Schultz (born September 27, 1966) is a Florida Democrat elected to the United States House of Representatives in 2004, representing Florida's 20th congressional district. The district includes portions of Broward and Miami-Dade counties. She was born in Queens, New York and grew up on Long Island. She currently lives in Weston outside Fort Lauderdale. She is a mother of three and is married to Steve Schultz. She endorsed Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton for for her party's 2008 presidential nomination. Once Senator Barack Obama became the presumptive Democratic nominee, she endorsed him and seconded his nomination at the 2008 Democratic National Convention.

On CBS's Face the Nation, she declared Sarah Palin to be unready for the Vice Presidency. “She knows nothing.... Quite honestly, the interview I saw and that Americans saw on Thursday and Friday was similar to when I didn’t read a book in high school and had to read the Cliff’s Notes and phone in my report,” Wasserman Schultz said of Palin’s interview with ABC’s Charlie Gibson last week. “She’s Cliff-noted her performance so far.” [Politico.com 9/14/08]

During the Terri Schiavo case, she was one of the strongest opponents of congressional intervention…After the controversy Wasserman Schultz issued a statement that said, “… The Congress is not the appropriate venue to decide end-of-life or any private, personal family dispute. … The Congress was never designed for, and our Founding Fathers never intended, the body to make these kinds of decisions. … I am worried when members of Congress and the President try to overstep over twenty court rulings on a case that had gone on for years. … I am worried when the federal government attempts to step between a husband and a wife because members of Congress believe they know better.

Roy Blunt on "Rate the Weasel"

Roy D. Blunt (born January 10, 1950) is a Republican politician from Missouri, representing Missouri's 7th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives. He was the House Republican whip for the 110th United States Congress, having announced after the 2008 general election that he would step down from the position.Blunt's son Matt Blunt is the former governor of Missouri.

On February 19, 2009, Blunt announced he would run for the Republican nomination for the United States Senate seat being vacated by Senator Kit Bond in 2010.

Blunt has been married twice. He married Roseann Ray in May 1967, and with her had three children: Matt (the former governor of Missouri), Amy Blunt Mosby, and Andrew Blunt. Amy and Andrew are lawyers and lobbyists. They divorced after 35 years of marriage. Afterward, he married Abigail Perlman, a lobbyist for Kraft Foods,[2]

In 2002, Blunt attempted to insert a provision, in support of tobacco corporations, into the legislation that created the Department of Homeland Security. The "rider" would have made tobacco sales over the Internet more difficult, allowing tobacco companies to control distribution. At the time, Blunt was dating Phillip Morris lobbyist Abigail Perlman, whom he later married. It was removed from the final bill by agreement between Blunt's staff and the Speaker's staff. The same basic provision was later adopted by the Senate and became law, restricting the ability of criminals and terrorists to use black market Internet sales of tobacco to underwrite illegal or nefarious activity.[23]

Citizens for Ethics released a report in June 2007 in which they pointed out that two of Blunt's children are lobbyists in addition to his wife.[24] Altria Group (Phillip Morris/Kraft foods) has made a $180,000 contribution to Blunt's PACs and is the largest donor to Blunt's campaigns, giving Blunt a total of $270,000 as of late 2006.[25] Son Andy Blunt is a lobbyist who has worked for Altria subsidiaries Kraft Foods, Miller Brewing, and Philip Morris, along with UPS. Blunt inserted a rider into an Iraq War appropriations bill in 2003 that benefited UPS.[24] Daughter Amy Blunt is a registered lobbyist for Lathrop & Gage.

Citing the Homeland Security rider benefiting his largest donor Altria Group and the rider inserted to benefit UPS and FedEx after receiving campaign contributions from the companies totaling $58,000, Citizens for Ethics in September 2006 called Blunt "one of the 20 most corrupt members of Congress
