Breaking News – the 14 Fleebagging AWOL Wisconsin Dems. to be taken into custody

breaking news, being reported now…

Wisconsin Senate approves measure to have 14 Fleebagging AWOL democrat senators who have defected to IL to be taken into custody.

The measure that was just passed says the fleebaggers have been determined to be in contempt and disorderly content.  It instructs the Sergeant At Arms of the State Senate the to use his authority to take ‘any and all steps with or without force to force the senators to return to their duties’.
This is not the same as an arrest, but it is definitely not hand-wringing either.

I bet Reagan is smiling down kindly on the Scott Walker and the Wisconsin Senators who voted for this measure.  This is what I said needed to happen a week or so ago in my previous post.

The next steps after this would likely be to actually press charges against them leading to their removal.

WWRD(What Would Reagan Do) about Wisconsin?

We will get to that, but first some background on what has happened in Wisconsin.

Governor Scott Walker of Wisconsin has proposed rolling back state workers’ benefits and their right to collective bargaining to help bridge Wisconsin’s budget deficits. But Democrats in the Wisconsin Senate have fled the state, leaving that chamber short of a quorum, and the state Capitol in Madison has become the site of protests against Walker’s plans. Over 40% of Madison WI public school teachers staged a “Sick Out” day in protest.

State law prohibits public school teachers from striking. So did Wednesday's "sick-out" by Madison School District teachers constitute an illegal strike?

No, said John Matthews, Madison Teachers Inc. executive director, who called the event "a political action," not a strike.

"They're not protesting against their employers," he said. "The employer had nothing to do with this. This is trying to save public education in Wisconsin."

Madison school officials didn't respond immediately Wednesday to requests for comment.

Peter Davis, legal counsel with the Wisconsin Employment Relations Commission, which administers the state's collective bargaining laws, declined to say whether the action — in which 40 percent of the Madison union's 2,600 members called in sick as of late Tuesday — amounted to a strike since his organization could be called on to make that judgment in any complaint against MTI.

But in general, Davis said, a strike includes any concerted work stoppage by municipal employees, any concerted interruption of operation of services, or any concerted refusal to work or perform normal duties for the purpose of enforcing demands on a municipal employer.

So the head of the bloodsucking union says it is not a strike But the law would seem to suggest differently.  Well as I have always said History has the answers:

On August 3, 1981 nearly 13,000 of the 17,500 members of the Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization (PATCO) walked off the job, hoping to disrupt the nation's transportation system to the extent that the federal government would accede to its demands for higher wages, a shorter work week, and better retirement benefits.  At a press conference in the White House Rose Garden that same day, President Reagan responded with a stern ultimatum: The strikers were to return to work within 48 hours or face termination.  As federal employees the controllers were violating the no-strike clause of their employment contracts.  In 1955 Congress had made such strikes a crime punishable by a fine or one year of incarceration -- a law upheld by the Supreme Court in 1971.  Nevertheless, 22 unauthorized strikes had occurred in recent years -- by postal workers, Government Printing Office and Library of Congress employees, and by air traffic controllers who staged "sick-outs" in 1969 and 1970.

Negotiations between PATCO and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) began in February 1981.  PATCO president Robert Poli demanded an across-the-board wage increase of $10,000/yr for controllers whose pay ranged from $20,462 to $49,229; the reduction of a five-day, 40-hour work week to a four-day, 32-hour work week; and full retirement after 20 years service -- a package with a $770 million price tag. The FAA began work on a contingency plan that would go into effect if a strike occurred.

There wasn't much support for the PATCO strikers.  The public sided with the government and exhibited little sympathy for individuals whose earnings were already well above the national average.   PATCO leaders were hauled off to jail for ignoring court injunctions against a strike.  The Justice Department proceeded with indictments against 75 controllers.  Federal judges levied fines amounting to $1 million a day against the union while the strike lasted. Over 11,000 strikers received their pink slips, while 1,200 went back to work within a week's time.  Morale among the strikers was shaky. "I thought Reagan was bluffing," lamented one controller.  In October the Federal Labor Relations Authority decertified PATCO.

According to journalist Haynes Johnson, the decisive manner in which Reagan handled the PATCO strike convinced many Americans that he was "the kind of leader the country longed for and thought it had lost: a strong president" -- in sharp contrast to the widely-held view that Reagan's predecessor, Jimmy Carter, had been too indecisive.  Reagan stressed that he derived no satisfaction from sacking the controllers.  He pointed out that he was the first president to be a lifetime member of the AFL-CIO.  And he was aware that PATCO had been one of the few unions to support his presidential bid.  "I supported unions and the rights of workers to organize and bargain collectively," he wrote in his memoirs, " but no president could tolerate an illegal strike by Federal employees."

SO…

I think Walker is doing the right thing, and likely not being tough enough.  I am not a lawyer, but what about passing a temporary executive order allowing vouchers so parents could send their children to private schools?  Take the money from the school system and let the parents use it to educate their kids elsewhere.

This has nothing to do with “Saving Public Education”  this is simple union thuggery.  As for the lawmakers who refuse to return, subpoena’s should be issued and they should be forcibly brought back to the capitol.  Not sure about Wisconsin but that is legal at the federal level.

The Gulf Oil Spill Makes it Clear It Is Time to…. Push the Liberal Agenda

Cross posted at Left Coast Rebel

Oil-Rig-Explosion-in-Gulf-of-Mexico-10

never let a crisis go to waste part 2, 332

See full size imageI mean sure, Wind, Solar, and Ethanol, along with Cap and Trade are wildly inefficient, but, look at the bright side,  they are also fantastically expensive too! – stated one administration official*

*Not really but he might as well have

As the Deepwater Horizon Well continues to pour oil into the gulf, the politicians are doing their best to turn our misfortune into their windfall. The (Il)logical chain goes like this: 1) crude oil is messy and dirty, especially when it is spilled into water; 2) “green” fuels and energy methods are clean and don’t result in oil spills; 3) Green energy would expand political power in this country 4) therefore, the government should force  “green energy” on consumers.

Also the Cap and Tax movement is using the Deepwater Horizon disaster to push for its’ pet initiative.  The best I can come up with for the (il)logical rationalization for the oil spill “making it clear Cap and Trade is necessary” is 1) Liberals want cap and trade 2) The BP Oil Spill is a disaster 3) never let a disaster go to waste 4) therefore, we must pass cap and trade.

This MSNBC (Official Mouthpiece of the Administration) reinforces the position :

“Alternative energy proponents say the time is right for help from Washington. “Our thoughts are with the people living and working in the Gulf as they and other organizations deal with the oil spill,” said Denise Bode, CEO of the American Wind Energy Association. “Americans’ support for pure, clean energy is clear, and events such as this heighten the need for Congress to pass needed energy and climate legislation.”

But not to be outdone, ‘the lets burn our food to make less efficient but more costly fuel’ crowd, aka the Ethanol Industry, has jumped on the bandwagon too:

“The Gulf oil spill is a heartbreaking catastrophe, and it demonstrates in stark terms why we need to accelerate the use of renewable energy alternative like ethanol,” said Stephanie Dreyer, spokesperson for ethanol advocacy group Growth Energy.

“The long-term ramifications of the oil spill are yet to be determined, but it definitely indicates a need for us to invest in alternative fuels in a renewable way and move away from oil.”

No, it clearly does not indicate any such need.  And it also is not a clear mandate for complete moratorium on all drilling.  The Oil Industry as a whole has a fantastic safety record, and not to minimize the terrible situation the BP disaster has put us all in, and the enormous economic losses that the gulf will experience, it should not slow down our efforts to drill here at home one iota.  As Rupert Murdoch said, “We didn’t buy Alaska to save the Moose.”

Not wanting to miss out on the action, the Global Warming Alarmists have to make hay off of this crisis as well.  To make matters worse, the New Plan from Chairman Zero for $7 dollar a gallon gasoline would obviously trigger yet more condemnation of oil and lead to more demands that the government “nationalize” the industry.  Which would play into The Oministration’s hands very nicely.

In reality, government intervention played a SIGNIFICANT role in the disaster in the first place.  As Judge Andrew Napolitano points out, BP wanted to drill in 500 feet of water, which the state of Louisiana approved but then was, of course, halted by the federal government which demanded the company drill in 5,000 feet of water.   The Judge writes:

“Never mind that no oil company had ever cleaned up a broken well at that depth and never mind that the feds had never monitored a broken well at that depth and never mind that BP only needed to set aside $75 million in case something went wrong. The feds trumped BP’s engineers and the feds trumped the wishes of the folks who live along the Gulf Coast and the feds decided where this oil well would be drilled.”

And why did BP only need to set aside 75 million for liability? Because of a law liberal lawmakers passed following the Valdez spill.  Previous to that there was no liability limit,  another example of government good deeds at work.

Furthermore, the federal government has roadblocked local & state governments as well as private citizen’s efforts at cleanup every step of the way.  The Obama Regime has turned away offers from well-trained and well-equipped groups including foreign countries because of the Jones Act, which protects American maritime unions.  A law which could be suspended with a mere stroke of Obama’s pen.    As much as the Liberals howl about saving the animals, and saving the environment, with this decision to do nothing Obama has made it clear he favors the unions more than the environment.

Is this merely incompetence and protection of special interests?  OR is this maximization of the opportunity provided by this crisis ram down less-efficient and much more costly energy “alternatives,” such as windmills and corn-based ethanol, both of which are highly inefficient wastes of time and money and kept alive only by massive government subsidies. In a free market consumers would reject these costly and inefficient sources, but thanks to the magic of political “investing,” we no longer have a “free” market, and costly and inefficient are what Government does best.

So we have a spill the Obama administration and many others hope will change our attitudes toward oil. The fuels that come from crude oil are unmatched in their energy production and cost-effectiveness, so it would take a major event to make American consumers willing to impose huge costs on themselves. We may not need alternative fuels, and we may not want them, but apparently the government and its allies are using this unfortunate event to increase State power and to make us poorer.

Andy Stern to Resign as SEIU Head

 andy_stern

Via and with a big H/T to: Reaganite Republican  I don’t visit the Reaganite often enough.  Was perusing this morning and caught this:  Purple People Beaters

The disturbingly influential head of the Purple People Beaters is planning to step-down (in 2012), according to Politico- this of course comes as a surprise, right at the peak for this power-hungry rabble-rouser .  Strange it is... so what's he up to?- best to keep an eye on this one

Reaganite Republican: Andy Stern to Resign as SEIU Head

Left this as a comment, and it sums up my opinion.

Cockroach  It is not likely that Stern is going to be given a MORE high profile position. The reason he is probably moving/changing is because he has been shown to be too HIGH profile already. These people do their work in the weeds under the cover of darkness, A la Van Jones.  They cannot stand the sunlight. He has been caught out in the sun and widely reported as being the most frequent visitor to Chairman Zero's throne room. He is just going to go back underground. He may be moved to a liberal policy think thank, or may be called back to the mother ship at the Soros Foundation, or create a new evil organization.  That is what they do. Old Hippie Rabble Rousers never die they just create new organizations and rebrand themselves. That is what they have done since the sixties.

My 2 Cents, POTUS, TOTUS, States Rights, Education, The Whole Stinking Mess.

Okay folks, if you have not seen the photo yet, it is everywhere.  Yes, yes, it is true.  The POTUS needs TOTUS to stay on message when talking to 11 year olds.  Those on the defense point out that the press was there too, well sure it was, he wouldn’t go into a PUBLIC school if there wasn’t a PR Opportunity to be had. And Clifton at Another Black Conservative is right on the money as usual.  Big O has no substance, he is a product of a machine in a way we have not seen since the bad old robber baron days.  At any rate I want to comment on one part of the story.  For other commentary please read any of the fine sources at the bottom of the post, or many others that are out there.

What I want to focus on is the State’s Rights issue here, as well as the quality education that our kiddos deserve.  It really is easy to understand and see things for what they are when you understand what the broader goal for the left is.  They always say it is for the children, but clearly it is not.  If money was the solution to why we are ‘sucking hind teat’ among the nations of the world for education, don't you think by now that we would have fixed it?  Money is NOT THE ISSUE and MORE will not fix it.  The issue IS the federal standards.  I come from a long line of teachers. Two grandparents, an Aunt, and Uncle, 5 Cousins, and more, all teachers.  From IL, TN, MO, and TX, they all sing the same tune.

This started when I was a youngster.  We all did the achievement tests, I do not remember when I was in Elementary School spending time learning the test, but by the time several administrations policies had taken their toll and High School rolled around, we were spending weeks specifically practicing for the test.  Well, I gotta ask the obvious question, are we training kids to take tests or to THINK?  Obviously we are training them to put little black dots in little circles on paper…push the button KOKO get a bannaner…

Here is the reality of all the crappy federal regulations that have happened starting in the Sixties.  Step 1. The IRS takes money out of the hands of producers that could be spent locally and sends it to Washington. Step 2. The Fed sets an arbitrary performance standard for curriculum across this nation from Maine to Hawaii, and Alaska to Key West.  Encompassing all the flavors of the rainbow and cultures that we possess.  Step 3. States are set to compete for the dollars by meeting these standards.  Step 4. Individual school districts, beholden to the Federal and States for the dollars removed from individuals and businesses in their districts, must compete amongst themselves for the dollars apportioned to the states.  Step 5.  Through entitlement programs, and the general moral decay of our society, along with the rampant PC and lack of discipline applied to our children, parents do not parent, and children are increasingly apathetic towards learning. Step 6. Teachers, needing their careers, and under pressure from their administration for results, begin to teach little Johnny and Little Susie how to answer test questions, similar to monkeys in some sociology experiment, instead of how to use their BRAINS.  Step 7: as performance standards outstrip the children’s actual ability to remember and regurgitate infonuggets schools resort to really ridiculous ways of propping up their scores in a downward spiral of ignorance. Throw in laughable standards for a teaching certificate, Teachers unions, and Smarmy politicians and voila, a McDollar Menu Education  on a Filet Mignon budget.

We do not let teachers teach, and we do not provide a basis for our children’s future, because we have turned teaching into a race for federal hog slop.  And it goes without saying that Obama’s plan will hasten the further degeneration of the actual quality of children’s education further.  Why?  Because we should not try to teach all the kids in this nation the same thing on the same day at the same hour.  That is what makes things meaningless. Even making the State’s Rights argument doesn’t go far enough.  I feel strongly, and logic supports me, that curriculum should be decided on a district by district level.  I would settle for State by State, but even in Missouri there are wide cultural variances regarding not only what, but how kids should be taught.  One size never ever fits all, and in this case, most lose out.

Some of the greatest minds in history were self educated, or educated in one room schoolhouses.  We do not need 20 million dollar high schools with laboratories rivaling that of pharmaceutical research companies, and gymnasiums that look like something from ESPN.  We need to teach the three R’s , Readin, ‘Riting, and ‘Rithmatic.   I have done posts previously that demonstrate from the local level that our schools are horrible, the local one here averages something like 20 hours a week of potential instructional time to Jr. High kids.  What they are learning in 7th grade I learned in 5th, what I learned in 5th my parents learned in 4th.  I was taught Phonics and Greek and Latin root words and taught to look at context. When I see a word I have not encountered I can make a reasonable guess at how it is pronounced and probably its’ general meaning.  Children today are taught words by rote memorization and “sight words” nonsense hogwash garbage.  We still teach math all wrong to kids, my grandparents can do as much math in their heads as I can do with a calculator and forget giving me a pencil it is a waste of time. When I was a kid in Texas we learned Texas history, and when I moved to Missouri, we learned Missouri history.  When I got to High School I learned World History, up to the Vietnam War. Guess what, forty years since Vietnam, and kids learn up to the Vietnam War.  The color of the houses of the natives to the Indian Subcontinent are not as relevant to our kids as what happened since Vietnam, yet, that is part of the curriculum.  And yellow, if you are wondering, all the houses were yellow, and they all disappeared and no one knows why.  Riveting isn’t it?

If we focused on teaching people how to THINK and then Inspired them to do so and gave them direction we would be way better off than trying to cram useless facts into their head without giving them any context.  This is how the Ignorance is spread folks.  This is why kids worship Che.  This is why we are losing.  If we win the battle on Healthcare, and that is a big IF, then we will have to win Immigration on our terms to turn the tide.  Then, in order to actually win, Education reform is the battlefield we will win it on, and it will take two generations, or we are pretty much shot as far as I see it.  Local People, teaching their Kids, at the Local level, lessons that are relevant to them.  Let’s teach our kids to Read. To Learn. To Question, and to THINK.

So Where Do I stand on the issues?

usa-eagle-800 My partner in crime asked Where do you Stand on issues the other day, and it is a great question. I started to answer just to clarify MY positions and it got too long for the comment section.

gop_logo2_bo21 When I started this blog I would have to say I thought I was what commonly passes for Republican these days. The more I have discussed and aired my thoughts here and studied and read, the more I realize I am Constitutionally Libertarian. So in a nutshell here is my stance on the issues:
Fedzilla Fiscal Policy - Leave us alone. Free Market Capitalism is the way, the truth, and the light when it comes to fiscal policy. The government is the problem not the solution. Audit the Fed, Get rid of the Fed.

Freedom of Speech, Lady Justice Freedom of speech - this means freedom of all speech even that which we disagree with and do not like or that which makes us uncomfortable. This means Fox news and even MSNBC news.

Freedom of Religion Freedom of Religion- not freedom from, even those ideologies that we do not agree with , as long as those people believing those ideologies can live peaceably with us and not blow up our planes, trains, automobiles, and buildings, or Kill our kids. Free to choose any religion, even none, realizing that this nation was founded on strong Judeo Christian traditions.

Gun Control

Second Amendment - Leave us Alone. It is plainly said in the constitution and there is a reason why. I have perfect gun control thank you: the ability to hit the target, and a good two hand weaver stance.

BABY Abortion- LIFE, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. Duh. I do not know exactly where life begins, but in lieu of knowing I will side with Life. It is totally illogical to be pro-abortion and anti-KFC

taxes Taxes - will never be low enough.

reaganwelfare Entitlements - breed cultures of dependency and need to be slowly and methodically scaled back and controlled. OASDI will not be there when I need it anyway, start letting me pay for my ancestors as well as save for MY future.

Global_Warming Anthropogenic Climate Change - Good story, right up there with Hansel and Gretel and the Three Little Pigs. All three are to get children and mental midgets to do something someone else wants them to do.

Fight like the 300 Wars- IF...IF, they are important enough to fight, fight hard, win decisively and come home quickly. Strike fear into the enemies heart and break his will to wage war and you won't have as many people trying to start stuff with you.

United Nations UN - keep them here and keep an eye on them, but never take them seriously.

illegal_aliens-amnesty2 Immigration - I am for all the LEGAL immigration we can stand. I am in favor of making it easier to obtain work authorization. But the line forms over there and no cutting, the rest of you go back the the end of the line, cross our border illegally again and we will shoot you.

School Choice Education - leave my damn kid alone, you can't run the post office, DMV, balance a checkbook, read a bill, tell the truth, obey the law, or pay your taxes. Leave my Kid alone. Vouchers are a good idea, let parents vote with their feet, and their school tax dollars. Then the schools that PERFORM will SUCCEED.

Unions Unions- there was a time, fifty years ago, when Unions were a good thing. Now they are just PACs and Criminal Organizations that feed off of hard working people like a tick. They need to go the way of the dodo.

Universal Healthcare- Communism Healthcare - Leave me alone. Tort Reform, Entitlement reform, EMS reform, less insurance restrictions. That would help healthcare. What the Fed wants to do is not about healthcare or health insurance but about consolidating control and power.

tl-drill_here_drill_now_stickers Energy, for heaven’s sake drill here, drill now. All the Cars running on wishful thinking is not going to happen this decade or probably in the next two. So let's quit running ourselves into bankruptcy and prevent our economy grinding to a halt. Let's stop funding those entities which do not have our best interests at heart. Let's create some jobs in this country. No Smart grid, that is just like Government Healthcare, a joke and lever of control. Build some Nuclear power plants, they are good enough for China and France, why are they not good enough for us?

The New Party – A little remembered fact.

The N[np1.JPG]ew Party was a third political party in the United States that was active from 1992 to 1998.

The New Party was founded in the early 1990s by Daniel Cantor, a former staffer for Jesse Jackson's 1988 presidential campaign, and by sociology and law professor Joel Rogers as an effort to break with the largely unsuccessful history of left-leaning third parties in the United States.

The party could best be described as social democratic (for those that do not know, social democracy supports positions that include support for a democratic welfare state merging elements of socialism and capitalism, resulting in a mixed economy combined with a comprehensive welfare state) in orientation, although party statements almost invariably used the terms "small-d democratic" or "progressive" instead. Its founders chose the name "New Party" in an effort to strike a fresh tone, free of associations with dogmas and ideological debates.

After a false start in New York, the New Party built modestly successful chapters in several states. Some of these chapters — such as those in Chicago and Little Rock — had their main bases of support in the low-income community organizing group ACORN, along with some support from various labor unions especially the SEIU or Service Employees International Union. Left-wing critics of the New Party, such as supporters of the Green Party, argued that the New Party was merely a pressure group on the fringes of the Democratic Party, rather than a genuinely new political party

My point? We the American People were not told about these things during the campaign or before. If anything Beck, O’Reilly, and all the blogs have been too kind to the legacy media and the Oministration. The ties are deeper and worse than anyone ever imagined. Wait…you didn’t zoom in the picture did you? Look at it. That is right, our Dear Leader was endorsed by this “party”. This got like one mention in the press that I can remember during the election but BHO said that he was not a member of the party and the story lost traction and was forgotten. The more we learn of Van Jones, and the rest of the gang the more we seem shocked at the layers upon layers of connections to Statism (Socialism/Communism, etc.) and Radicalism. We recently learned that Valerie Jarrett’s mother worked for Bill Ayers’ Father. And that her Father in Law was friends with Frank Marshall Davis, who was friends with BHO’s Grandfather. Davis as we all know was a mentor to young Barry Obama-Soetoro. That they all knew each other is a given. I do not want to rehash what many of you know, and if you do not know it just Google those names together to catch up. The point I want to make is that how in heaven’s name did this guy get this far with these ties? We all know the corruption in the so called MSM. But I have difficulty wrapping my head around just how BAD it is. I knew McCain was a lame duck, but I didn't realize just how bad he was either. With all of this DIRT everywhere on the now pResident why on earth did McCain not capitalize on this stuff? How easy would this have been? Sour grapes now, I know. I guess I am just saying that some times I think that maybe, just maybe, I am listening to the wrong things and I have got it all wrong. Then I start reading and googling, and BLAMMO it is worse than I thought.

Make no mistake we have a Statist, Central Planning, Capitalist Hating Anti-Liberty Radical in the White House, and Race ain’t got a damn thing to do with it.

My Kooky idea for the Auto Companies

I have heard it said that GM is a healthcare and pension provider that makes cars as a by-product. In the Eighties I believe GM and Chrysler made a severely inferior product. I do not believe that is the case anymore, but how can these companies EVER hope to compete while the UAW has them by the throat and the Government has them by the...ummm some lower part of the anatomy?

Now Chrysler is going to be majority owned by the Union. Well, if they have to make a profit that might change the way the Union does business, but I seriously doubt it.

My idea from the beginning of this mess has been this:

GM (and Chrysler) says to the Union: "we design cars, we have the production facilities, we have the dealer network, the purchasing agreements...in short everything we need...and we are good at doing these things. What we are no longer interested in being is a provider of labor, so here is what we are going to do... we are either going to move all production to Mexico or what we would prefer to do is sign a worker supply agreement with the UAW for all Labor and Labor Management services. If necessary for legal reason we will also sell the UAW our assembly plants. We would like to subcontract the labor and assembly services. We will give the UAW X amount of dollars to provide labor and assemble cars, and how you pay YOUR employees and what benefits you give them are completely up to you. We will not hear grievances, we will not hire or fire, we will not administer payroll, we will not provide pensions, we are not a healthcare company, we are a Car Company. We will sign a contract for Labor to produce X amount of cars and trucks. If we do not meet basic production quotas then we will deduct Y amount of money from you, and what you do with YOUR employees is completely up to you. If we achieve better than anticipated levels of productivity then YOU will receive a bonus, and how you divide that up or if you do with YOUR employees is up to you. Simply put, we do not want production labor to work for us anymore. We will design the car, purchase the materials, transprot the vehicles and sell the vehicles, but all production labor and assembly services are now subcontracted to the UAW for one lump sum, which the UAW can divide how it sees fit. You take care of all benefits, payroll, hiring, firing, training, and discipline."

There is your choice UAW. Mexico is prepared to build our factory for free.

If the employees do not like this arrangement, then may we suggest they choose to no longer have the UAW represent them, and we might reconsider.

For the record.... I HATE, LOATHE, and DESPISE any and ALL unions. Not Union Workers, Unions... they are bloodsucking vampires on the neck of the working men and women of this nation. There was a time and place for them and it was at least 40 years ago. The sooner everyworking person in this country realizes that a Union's first job is not to protect them but to generate union dues then the better off they would all be. Unions only serve to create an adversarial relationship, they come between an employer and its' employees. The only two ways I know of to alleviate this problem is for the employees to vote them out, or for the Company to make the Union responsible for something other than collecting dues and stirring up dissent.

When we were told that Bankruptcy was not an option, I knew that in the end that would be where they were all headed. There is no avoiding it. The UAW has never proven it can run anything anywhere except into the ground. What Chrysler should have been allowed to do was negotiate with the employees to make them stakeholders with the understanding the UAW was to be ousted. Although that is currently illegal to do, I think there was no legal precedent for the President to fire a CEO of a company either, and that never stopped the administration.
