Waking up is getting dicey these days. I wake from one Obama Marxist induced nightmare to the next on this oddly unbumpy road to the "total transformation of America". Today I woke to a news report that Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood "has announced that federal transportation policies will no longer favor “motorized” transportation, such as cars and trucks, over “non-motorized” transportation, such as walking and bicycling".Link. Yup, as we always knew, they are coming after our cars next. Because what is more symbolic of American liberty than the automobile? That's right, nothing.
How am I going to get the groceries home from Costco on my bike you ask? They have an answer for that also in Totally Transformed America. It comes from the Granddaddy of societal transformation and planned sustainable living, the Soviet Union. It is called the CommieBloc™ apartment housing. It will be close to work and near public transportation. And because food will become so prohibitively expensive, you will never really be buying in bulk anyway. Soon you'll be paying $5 for about two ounces of jelly just like the Europeans. You Americans are all too fat anyway and, really, you never did spend enough of your discretionary income on food.
I can not help but think of all those great societies that bike and walk as a main mode of transportation. Mao's China, North Korea. Folks, this is typical 3rd world and 2nd world mobility. For those of you who haven't watched this youtube I urge you to.
This is Obama's vision for our future. A great Leap Forward to the 19th century. -KMBR
But, Comrade KMBR, you have forgotten to mention how much better it will be for the party members who are very busy doing the hard work of the people. With all the bikes and foot traffic and busses that will leave the uncluttered capitalist highways for their exclusive use, making their important work more efficient. Just like in the old mother country, da? They had lanes only for politburo use. was better, no?
.My only experience with it was while in DC for the 9-12 rally. Bleah... it sucks. I cannot imagine going shopping for anything and having to lug it home. How do people live? Your sink springs a leak...takes an hour by bus and train to get to a shopping district and walk to the hardware store...an hour back... how do they buy a new TV or even clothing? This explains why service industries make so much money. Totally foreign to me. I have hired a plumber one time in my life and it was for a HUGE project. I deliver my own appliances; I cannot imagine paying for all of those services. Saw a commercial for U-haul and how they rent trucks so the dad could build the kid a tree house. so silly.
Here in Sweden they use these little cart things. Almost like a luggage on wheels. You throw your groceries into them and lug them home. Or a lot of times I see them with these other cart things they use to haul cases of drinks back to their apartments. Ofcourse, some people have cars but two cars for a family is rare. It is typically one car and they only use it for trips to the larger stores outside of the city.
Ofcourse, at the rate we are headed, Sweden is going to be a beacon of freedom by comparison.
