Kristof: Proposing a King and Queen for America

So Nicholas Kristof of the New York Times wrote this little snarky column Proposing a US King and Queen calling attention to the fact that in many ways the POTUS has to not only do public relations work but also to actually solve problems (a debatable point all by itself) which makes his job really hard.  His main thesis is that we should not be so harsh on Obama by expecting him to emote in an appropriate fashion regarding the Oil Spill, going so far to say that the “ass kicking” comment is all the public’s fault because of the intense pressure the public has put on him to show emotion (no, I think the pressure is to show LEADERSHIP and Concern).  We are told that he just does not work that way, he is too cool for that, and that, instead, he is a problem solver.  Now, many of my fine friends on the Right are gong to jump all over Kristof’s article for a myriad of reasons.  Such as, Obama is supremely more qualified to perform PR work than to actually do something productive.  It is not as though his domestic or foreign policies are working.  Which is a great point in and of itself.  Similarly, one could rant at length that Obama and Lady M already fancy themselves some sort of messianic rulers. I could write 1000 words on debunking the myth that the man or administration has solved even 1 problem.  But, I want to zero in on something that Mr. Kristof said.  Sometimes it is the little things that one says that really give you insight into what people actually think.   What Mr. Kristof thinks is symptomatic of the entire problem with our country.

“One of the things I admire about this administration is its cerebral, no-drama emphasis on empirical evidence in addressing issues such as health, education and poverty. This is government by adults, by engineers rather than by dramatists.” [emphasis mine]

Riiiggght.  So what engineering degree does Obama have?  What engineering degree do any of his top advisors have? Mechanical, Electrical, Structural?  Civil?  Choo Choo?   This administration has less business experience than any other before it.  This is arguably the least experienced problem solving administration in history…except for one “problem” and one kind of “engineering”.  Notice the author did not say “addressing issues such as Energy, The evil tyrants in North Korea and Iran, the two Wars, the Recession, Crime, or  Illegal immigration” no, he said “Health, Education, and Poverty.”  No, the only type of engineering expertise possessed by the Zero Administration is the pseudo science of Social Engineering or Science of Society, not to be confused with real Social Sciences like Archaeology, History, Linguistics, Economics, Geography, or Anthropology. 

The term Sociology became very popular in the late 19th/early 20th century as technology seemed to make everything possible, even the changing of human nature and human interaction.  The “Problem” they seek to “solve” is the same “problem” that Lenin, Marx, Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, Mao, Pol Pot, Kim Il Sung/Kim Jung Il, Hugo Chavez, Che Guevera, Fidel and Raul Castro, Woodrow Wilson, FDR,  and any other failed or failing despots you care to name have tried to “solve”.   They would call it “fairness” or “compassion”.  They might call it the “war on poverty”, the “Great Society” or even “redistributive change”.   What I would call it is Human Nature and the tendency for those who strive, sweat, struggle and persevere to fail and fail again, and then actually succeed; and the natural tendency of those who sit around and bitch and moan about how they can’t make it on their own…attempt nothing and therefore will never succeed, without help from Community Organizers, Labor Unions, and the Nanny State.

What it boils down to is one of two things (or both).  The attempt to change human nature to “perfect” man and create heaven on earth. Which is a misguided and naive, pie in the sky, hippie dreamer mentality;
or, a very cynical and evil scheme to addict the populace to the opium of government (welfare, food stamps, the earned income tax credit,  free housing, paid utilities, free education, free childcare, free cell phones, and being too big or too important to fail) in order to forge an everlasting nobility and benevolent tyranny on an increasingly ignorant and helpless public.
Really it is both.  Because without the former mind numbed illiterati (wow did I invent a new word?) to assist them, the power mad know-it-alls could never amass enough power to “save” us from ourselves.

Multiculturalism – Where ‘zero tolerance’ unity of thought results in diversity of skin color

As some of you may be aware I have a younger family member who lives with me while she attends college.  She is a sharp cookie, and although she does not agree with me on every issue, nor I with her, we do agree on a good number of philosophical points.

Frequent readers know that I detest affirmative action and quotas for pretty much any use.  I have taken a little heat in the past for my comparisons regarding the amount of “diversity” on TV and in advertising and the actual demographics of this nation.

I am reminded of the South Park episode on the South Park flag:

The episode begins with an argument about the South Park town flag. It depicts four white figures hanging a black one on a gallows. The blatant racism incites Chef's indignation and leads him to believe that the whole town is racist. The Children are eventually given the job of redesigning the flag and when they unveil it, it is a multicultural flag of different colored stick people holding hands…with a black stick figure on the gallows. 

Chef and the rest of the adults find out that the children had not even noticed that the flag was racist, thinking that the issue at hand was capital punishment. Chef realizes that, when the children looked at the flag, they only saw five people, with no regard to their colors, and is touched: he realizes that, in believing the whole town racist while throwing the slur "cracker" around, he was being the racist one. . Chef delivers the moral of this story: his inclination to anti-racism almost made him a racist himself; perceiving things according to race leads only to further racism.

In our world today we have “forced diversity” where diversity becomes un-diverse.  Everybody seems to have a dance card they have to fill with their “black” friend, and their “gay” friend, and their “asian” friend.  We’ve become hyper-racist to the point none of you probably pulled up short at my insertion of “gay” into a discussion on race.  That is how bad it has gotten, if you are perceived as anti-homosexual, you are also a racist.  Never mind being anti-homosexual being wrong; how did that become race based?

Look at the Lefty bomb throwers; they are the ones attempting to marginalize the entire TEA movement because "we are all a bunch of white raaacists”.  The term racist is used to completely discount every issue.  Don’t agree with the President?  Racist.  Don’t agree with AZ’s immigration law? Raacist!  Don’t agree with unlimited welfare? Raaacissst.  Don’t support green initiatives?  Racist.  Vote *gasp* Republican?  raaaaacisssst.

If your grassroots group is not a uniformly multicultural multi-ethnic melting pot (actually the less white people the better) then you absolutely positively must be racist.  

We all fall into this trap.  The white demographic in this area of the country is around 75%, therefore 75% of all the people in any given group ANYWHERE around here could be assumed to be caucasian non-spanish.  Instead, unless we can show a picture of just how many skin tones were at a Rally, we are apparently proven to be Racists.  To hear the loons tell it we are all marching in sheets carrying burning crosses.

It has gotten to the point that even advertisers are beginning to poke fun at our hyper-racialism.  The new ads for the young ladies kotex has a beautiful young lady stating that she was picked to be the spokesperson because of her beauty and her indeterminate ethnicity so as to appeal to a wider audience..and blah blah blah…

What this does is point out that there is a LOT of thought given to race when products are designed and advertised.  I refuse to believe this sells more feminine hygiene products, cheeseburgers, or even TV shows.  But do believe the more we market to groups and the more we divide people up and check people off the worse the situation becomes, not better.

When I was a kid I watched Family Ties, not because they were white, but because Michael J. Fox was fantastic as Alex P. Keaton.  I watched The Cosby Show, not because they were black but because it was a great show.  When I was young I watched The Jeffersons, and Diff’rent Strokes, and Sanford and Son, and the Dukes of Hazard, Magnum PI, A-Team, Knight Rider, Simon and Simon. I got older and watched Arsenio Hall, not because he was black, but because he was better than Leno or that other idiot, for a while. I watched In Living Color instead of Sat Night Live.  I loved Home Improvement.  Color did not play into my TV watching habits, quality of the show and its relevance to me or its entertainment value did.  On another note, I can promise you, I never bought (or begged my mom to buy) a happy meal because of the color of the little kid in the commercial (usually it had more to do with Lego’s), ditto with breakfast cereal.

Little Cousin’s point was, when diversity just happens, it is diversity.  When Diversity is forced, it is someone else’s opinion of diversity, and I will add, it is certainly not the product of any diversity of thought.  Until the never-sufficiently-to -be-damned Liberal left quits using Racist as every other word, as a be-all and end-all to any disagreement, we will never be post racial.  We must not allow them to drag us into showing our “diversity” credentials at every turn.  I think from here on out the proper response to any cry of RAAACISSST should be, “that is absurd, how dare you bring race into the argument in order to obfuscate the true issue, I will not devolve into that type of hateful rhetoric, you debase yourself” – and if nothing else, they will just call us stoopid while they try to google the definitions to “obfuscate”, “devolve”, “rhetoric”, and “debase”.

Deconstructing our Progress to Communism Pt. II – Commerce Clause

   We the People are engaged in a battle over our future.  Are we going to remain a Constitutional Republic, or are we going to devolve in a communistic tyranny ruled by a politburo of non -representatives elected through sham elections like Iran, Cuba, Russia, or Venezuela?   Yesterday the focus was on the faulty premise that the “General Welfare” clause allows congress to legislate anything and everything under the sun.  Today’s focus is on another clause that our current would-be Kings and Queens in Washington think gives them the power usurp all authority reserved to the states or the people.  The “Commerce Clause”, Article I section 8.3 which reads:

[the congress shall have power…] “To regulate commerce with foreign nations, and among the several states, and with the Indian tribes”

The part of that statement which so much debate has been centered upon is “To regulate commerce…among the several states." Luckily we do not have to be confused as to what the framers meant, as they clearly laid out their intent in their writings.  reading their correspondence, there should be no debate at all what the proper understanding of those words should be. But as was pointed out yesterday, the small minority of our non-representatives who would hazard a guess as to where their unlimited power is derived from, will likely quote this clause.
Indeed Speaker Pelosi issued a press release on her website in September 2009 where she expressly said just that: Health Insurance Reform Daily Mythbuster: 'Constitutionality of Health Insurance Reform'

“…  But the Constitution gives Congress broad power to regulate activities that have an effect on interstate commerce.  Congress has used this authority to regulate many aspects of American life, from labor relations to education to health care to agricultural production. Since virtually every aspect of the heath care system has an effect on interstate commerce, the power of Congress to regulate health care is essentially unlimited.”

So according to this widely held interpretation these 16 words nullify the tenth amendment.  IF congress can regulate the commerce that goes on within a state because the prices and availability of a product or service in one state impacts the prices and availability in another, then there is literally no end to what they can control.  How convenient  for them.  This is clearly not what the founders meant. The original intent of the framers is clear.  Madison said to Cabell :

“For a like reason, I made no reference to the "power to regulate commerce among the several States." I always foresaw that difficulties might be started in relation to that power which could not be fully explained without recurring to views of it, which, however just, might give birth to specious though unsound objections. Being in the same terms with the power over foreign commerce, the same extent, if taken literally, would belong to it.

Yet it is very certain that it grew out of the abuse of the power by the importing States in taxing the non-importing, and was intended as a negative and preventive provision against injustice among the States themselves, rather than as a power to be used for the positive purposes of the General Government, in which alone, however, the remedial power could be lodged.”
Allow me to translate into more easily understood language. 
I did not refer to the "power to regulate commerce among the several States."  [in my response].  I purposefully left that part out because I always thought that in the future people would misunderstand the meaning unless it was  put into context.  If not, it would be too easy to extend this power to the same level as the power reserved to the federal government to regulate relationships with other nations.  It is very clear that this language grew out of an abuse of power by states that had ports and harbors against states that did not. The language was intended as a protection to keep one state from harming another by restricting its trade, not as an additional power given to the Federal government over the states; however, the Federal government is the only agency we could give this authority to, and so we did.

   Remember, until the mid 20th century any goods received from a foreign nation were received by ship.  This put States without ports and harbors at a serious disadvantage to states who did.  Imagine Kansas or Oklahoma's vulnerable situation if they had to pay taxes  on every product imported to every state that was crossed en route to the final destination.  imagine a ship from China delivering products to the port in Long Beach, CA en route to Kansas.  California could then charge tariffs to Kansas, and every state subsequently after that could charge both CA, and KS, as the product moved across their borders.  What a nightmare that would be.  This is the reasoning behind the Commerce Clause.  The purpose of the Commerce Clause was to keep this internal turmoil out of trade, to allow all the states to access shipping and receiving points.  This is further explained in Federalist #42, and Madison mentions that one of the reasons for this language’s inclusion into the constitution was because it was a noted weakness of the articles of Confederation as well as several Nations in Europe at the time.
It was meant as a restriction on states from harming other states, not to create an  all encompassing evil overlord Fedzilla government. 
Unfortunately over the years the courts have wavered back and forth on this issue and the most recent passing of the buck by the court has been this:
Garcia v. San Antonio Metropolitan Transit Authority, 469 U.S. 528 (1985),

Of course, we continue to recognize that the States occupy a special and specific position in our constitutional system and that the scope of Congress' authority under the Commerce Clause must reflect that position. But the principal and basic limit on the federal commerce power is that inherent in all congressional action—the built-in restraints that our system provides through state participation in federal governmental action. The political process ensures that laws that unduly burden the States will not be promulgated.

The recent Firearms Freedom laws are set to test this theory, but it is unlikely from the above decision they will. Folks, if we don’t like Pelosi et. al. view of things, we have to vote them out, because the courts are likely going to take a pass on this.  This may be one of the most important litmus tests on a prospective candidate, “what is your opinion regarding the proper role of the Fed with respect to the Commerce Clause”

Missouri needs to affirm its tenth amendment rights.

When our forefathers created our great nation, they designed the country to function as a compact of states with the federal government being the creation of these states. They included the 10th Amendment when writing the Constitution, which says that, “Each state retains its sovereignty, freedom, and independence, and every power, jurisdiction, and right, which is not by this Confederation expressly delegated.” At the time, the federal government’s power included federal taxing, federal police, and federal regulations. Over the years, however, the power of the federal government has expanded to the point where many fear that the federal government may be overreaching its bounds and violating the sovereignty of the states.

In recent years, and particularly with the current administration, the federal government has expanded significantly, especially in its costs. Throughout the country, states are becoming increasingly interested in the issue of state sovereignty and federal infringement. It is a concern of mine as well, which is why I proposed Senate Bill 587.

This legislation, which was discussed on the Senate floor this week, would give the voters of the state of Missouri the opportunity to create a commission that would review the actions of the federal government to see if the state’s sovereignty has been violated. The governor, President Pro Tem of the Senate, and Speaker of the House would each appoint two members of the commission and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court would appoint one member of the commission. If the commission finds that the federal government violated the 10th Amendment, the findings would be sent to the attorney general to allow him to pursue the state’s rights in federal court.

While several resolutions have been proposed this year to express the state’s disapproval of federal actions, SB 587 is more than that because it helps the state to take action. The state has always had the power to challenge the federal government in federal court, but SB 587 would allow our state to truly have an organized system to identify when our state’s sovereignty is being threatened.

One of the strengths of SB 587 is that it puts the issue to the people of the state. If the General Assembly approves the bill, the voters would have the opportunity to decide that this commission is necessary, making it truly a reflection of the people of Missouri’s desire to reestablish out state’s constitutional rights. When our forefathers wrote the constitution, they did so with very specific principles in mind, and SB 587 makes sure those ideals are respected and recognized.

This is a story nearly as old as time itself

It really all comes down to who knows better.  It is the same story that most of you are familiar with as being told by Braveheart.  The Scots-Irish is the culture that more than any other begat the USA.   It goes way, way back to the time of the Romans several years before Christ’s birth, but really takes off not long after his death.  The Roman army conquered the south end of England but was never able to really take the north because there were crazy people up there who fought like madmen and painted themselves blue, they were called Picts.  They refused to bend a knee to a far away authority.  Their culture was based on family ties, personal honor, and leadership was only accepted after it had been earned.  Allegiance was to the most local level.  In AD 122 Hadrian began construction of a wall between the ‘civilized’ part of the island and the wild north. Kings tried again and again for literally hundreds of years to bring these ‘savages’ into line.  They burned whole towns, slaughtered them in droves but never, eva, eva, won.  These people had freedom hard wired into their DNA.  The Scottish ‘nobles’ eventually were bought off and became ‘civilized’ to the British way of thinking, but still the people themselves never submitted.  They did not view allegiance the same way as the Brits. The British view was of wealth and property, poor people owed their allegiance to their rich ‘betters’.  Scotsmen knew in their hearts every man, prince or pauper, was free, and as stated before their allegiance was to their Kin, then their Clan, then their neighbor clan. They were not isolationists like the gypsies, did not have a class caste system like the rest of Europe, and they freely intermarried with other groups, who then became Scots.  This is what we think of as  a “grassroots” organization now. Their religious affiliation was Protestant and they were some of the first.  The Brits had always also had difficulty with the Irish, for differing but similar reasons.  They decided getting the Scots to move into Ireland would allow them to take both Ireland and Scotland in time.  Bad plan.  Many Scots moved to Ireland in the Ulster Plantation under a colonization plan dreamt up by the Brits.  Soon the Irish and the Scots were fighting each other…when they weren’t both killing the English.  The Irish and the Scots had similar views on Freedom, but differing views on Religion.  Then the first colonization of North America began.  Some Scots-Irish left Ulster to come to the “new world”  with the Puritans thinking they too could have religious freedom, and to their way of thinking they were protestants just like the Puritans.  Not true.  The Puritans idea of religious freedom was that everyone should be ‘free’ to worship as the Puritans did (Everyone was entitled to their opinion, as long as it was the Puritan opinion).



  Scots again refused to be assimilated, and were pushed further west into the Appalachian mountains, which was similar to throwing Brer Rabbit into the Briar Patch.  More Scots came and they stayed in the Mountains, moving South all the while. They intermarried and had lots and lots of little Scots-Irish babies (up to 40% higher birthrates than other immigrants at the time).  Ohio was opened for settlement and by this time the Native Americans or “Indians” were wise to this tide of white men and so began killing of the more gentrified of the English settlers…  The aristocracy in Britain thought they knew just the people to send over to make the Indians lives rough…the Scots.  They sent Scotsmen literally by the boatload to cheap land on the wild western frontiers as as a buffer between “Civilization”  and the “Indians”.  The Scots did as predicted and more.  The Scots kept coming, causing at least one wealthy landowner in England to lament (paraphrasing) “why are we letting them move if it is only so that they can have a better life, how does that profit us?” because he was losing too many tenants on his vast landholdings. The Scots kept pushing the Indians, and still managed to cause problems with their more ‘enlightened, wealthy, and civilized betters’  When the American Revolution began many in England saw it as nothing more than just one more Scottish rebellion, some called it exactly that.  The vast majority of the Scots stayed out of the fray until the English using their typical bullying tactics that had so enraged Scotsmen for eons, really went too far.  Then buckskin Scots came down out of the hills near Kings Mountain and destroyed an entire British Loyalist force 10 to 1.  Then they did it again at Cowpens, which the Brits never recovered from, ending in their defeat at Yorktown.  The Scots refused to bend a knee, and the USA was born. Down through the ages, the Scots-Irish CULTURE, meaning not only those people descended from the Scots, but also those who became culturally inseparable from the Scots,  have fought in more battles and done more to defend Freedom than any other group of people.  They have given us most of our  presidents (61%), many of our founding fathers were Scotsmen by birth or culture.

 
   The battle is the same today in the 21st century. The Puritans, the Elite, Our Betters, the Democrats, the proponents of European Socialism believe they know better than us.  Us, of the Mountains of Appalachia, the Carolinas, descendents of the first settlers of Ky, TN, TX, AR, and the Missouri Ozarks and all points West.  Our ancestors were at the forefront of the frontier and settled the West because no one else was tough enough, crazy enough restless enough to do it.  They were always fighting and moving to try to keep their individual freedoms, to be LEFT ALONE.  Today we are called Hillbillies, Rednecks, Rubes, Hicks, Uneducated and Unenlightened.  We are the faceless ignorant electorate, “those People” in the “Flyover”.  What we really are is the Poor but Proud, the  Entrepreneurs, The self made men and women  who frickin run this country, just like our ancestors.

You. Are. Not. Our. Rulers.

This is all in regards to the mirandizing and allowing lawyerly interference before thorough interrogation on the Fruit of Kaboom Bomber before the senate intelligence committee.
Diane Feinstein had the heads of the intelligence agencies in the carpet for a little dog and pony show. I am sure it did not go the way Senator Feinstein planned.



Senator Kit Bond:
"Enemy combatants must be questioned to the fullest by the intelligence community before, if ever, they are mirandized."

I think we should all miss Kit Bond as he is not seeking re-election this year. I think Kit is one of the good guys, he is the (good) Senator from Missouri.

Senator Orrin Hatch of Utah:



"Madam Chairman if I can finish, what I do have a problem with is I think it is stupid to put the whole country through this because the attorney general feels like there is a better way of doing things"

That's Senator Hatch from Utah, another one of the good guys. He has cajones.


And that cute little flower there is *gag* Diane *gag* Feinstein. She is the head of the Senate Intelligence Committee. Yes she was preparing to silence Senator Hatch with her little gavel


but Mr. Hatch asserted himself. Then she tried to say this started back under Reagan. Sorry Diane, I was alive when Reagan was in office and one thing for sure Ronald Reagan did not do was dither around and be indecisive and weak in the face of terrorism. Nuh uh.

All I can say is, Welcome to the Party fellas, this gives me hope.  I, like Musings, do not agree with all of their politics, and I clearly do not understand their sexual orientation, but these guys have a lot going on upstairs.  They are thinking, the light is on, and they are no longer drinking the kool-aid. What is more is that they are influential.  I have said for a long time what they say below, the Pro-Liberty folks are a natural fit for anyone who wants to have a live-and-let-live attitude.  These guys love their country, are productive contributing members of society, and have their thinking caps on:
Point One, To be Gay men in Chicago who declare war on the Democrats like this takes  a lot of guts. Period.
Point two, they are for Michelle Bachmann…how can I dislike them when they clearly have such good taste in women? AND get this, they want her to be SPEAKER.  I am starting to love these guys (not that way).
Point three…they loathe Barbara Boxer (supporting Chuck Devore) and detest Harry Reid.
Now if they would just realize that Hillary wants the same thing as Dr Utopia, aka Chairman Zero we would really be getting somewhere.  Read it and weep democRats, the paradigm is shifting:

In the 30+ years we’ve each been alive, the worst a Republican ever did to us was tell us, to our face, we were going to Hell because we like guys. Some added, “I will pray for your illness” when they found out we were gay. We’ve been through most of the states in the South. We grew up in places like Cleveland, Pittsburgh, San Antonio, Rochester, and Milwaukee.
We’ve been lectured by Catholics, Protestants, Fundamentalists, and Jews of the Republican persuasion, and never once did these people ever do anything worse to us than saying, “Boys, you ain’t right”.
Democrats, however, have sought to destroy us, working page by page through the Alinsky Playbook.We know people at the DNC monitor this site.
We know there are very important people who read us. Trust us, that shocks us as much as it might shock some of you. But we know this for a fact.
We are telling Democrats right now that you have destroyed the Democrat Party, perhaps forever. If you alienated lifelong, dyed in the wool Dems like us, you people are toast.
These lunatics really and truly believe that attacking moderate Dems like us who do not agree with the current Administration is an actual, sound, policy move.

During the 2008 primaries, we emailed back and forth with her a few times, and she is as rude and vile as can be. This was the genius behind Gore’s failed 2000 campaign, and the woman who dreamed up Obama 2008.
She’s the one who repeatedly said the Democrats do not need moderates, the working class, the blue collar voters, or “average Americans”.
Democrats believe they can exist with just blacks, immigrants, jews, liberals, gays, and the urban elite.Well, we’re gays who commit today to doing everything we can to bring Democrats down in 2010.
Part of it is because of what the DNC did to Hillary Clinton in 2008. Part of it is because of the attacks launched on us this week. But, mainly, it’s because Democrats are bad for this country. The party has gone completely insane and is out of touch not only with voters, but with reality itself.
There are no longer any moderate Democrats to speak of.
This was proven by the votes on the Healthcare Rationing bill. All 60 Dems in the Senate voted for a bill they did not read, did not understand, that they tried to ram through passage in the dead of night when no one was looking.
In our opinion, every last one of these people belongs in prison — for treason. Since we can’t make that happen, we will focus instead on defeating as many of them as we can.
As we said yesterday, looking at our resources, and our time schedule, we can commit to driving an effort behind FIVE good Republicans who can defeat bad Democrats in 2010.
One of these races is Michelle Bachmann’s. If you have any contacts with her, let her know a bunch of gay guys in Chicago want to go all-in for her. We want to make her Speaker too. We are willing to do whatever we can to make that happen.
For the other four races we want to get involved in, we want to pick four really good Republicans we believe in who will defeat Democrats that need to be made examples of.
One of those Dems is Barbara Boxer. Whomever runs against her will have our undying daily support.
We want Harry Reid defeated, but that’s going to happen without us, so we are not going to put our effort there. Part of us wants to take down Evan Bayh, just because we are so disappointed in the man for his behavior in the week before Christmas.
If ANY Democrat should have stood up and shouted down the madness of this Healthcare Rationing bill, it should have been Bayh. This is a man we like very much, on a personal level. This is a man we’ve had multiple conversations with. This is a man we would have loved to have seen become Vice President under Hillary Clinton.
But, he betrayed this country. All Democrats in the Senate did. And now he disgusts us.
We’re torn on what to do about Bayh. Indiana is so close, we could very easily get involved there. But we admit we have lingering loyalty to Bayh for how steadfast he stood with Clinton two years ago. So, he’s tabled for now.
That means two of our berths are now filled. We will be supporting:
(1) Michelle Bachmann
(2) Whomever is the nominee against Boxer (we hope it is Chuck Devore)
And the other three slots are empty.
The qualifications to earn our support are:
(1) Candidate must love America
(2) Candidate must hate socialism
(3) Candidate must not have supported Cap & Tax, the Healthcare Rationing Bill, or Dr. Utopia in any way
(4) Candidate must embrace the Tea Party movement, which we are a part of
(5) Candidate must not be evil to gays
Republicans, stop talking about gays, period. Across the board. News flash: there will always be gays. No matter how much you try to convince us otherwise, Jake Gyllenhaal is hot, Madonna is cool, and a night at Sidetracks beats just about anything else on Earth.
Especially Showtunes night. You can threaten us with fire, brimstone, and the fires of Hell all you want, but we’ll never, ever, not a day in our lives be attracted to women. Nor will we ever wish we were. We drink Pilsners. We adore Lady Gaga. Every drag queen in town knows our first names. We like guys.
Deal with it.

Why Start the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell Debate?

Senate to address DADT policy - Meredith Shiner - POLITICO.com

The Senate Armed Services Committee will address the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy Tuesday—the first time in 17 years the topic will be debated before a congressional hearing.

Secretary of Defense Robert Gates and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Michael Mullen are slated to testify on the law, which bans openly gay Americans from serving in the military.

Armed Services Committee Chairman Carl Levin has said repeatedly "has never supported" the controversial "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" law, and other Senators have expressed their opposition to it as well.

“The military’s ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ policy is an unjust, outdated and harmful rule that violates the civil rights of some of our bravest, most heroic men and women,” said Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) in a statement.

Republicans are opposed to the repeal.

“In the middle of two wars and in the middle of this giant security threat,” House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) said Sunday on NBC's “Meet the Press.” “Why would we want to get into this debate?”

Why indeed?

Well if I was robbing a bank…to distract someone from the robbery I could pull the fire alarm.  That is what I think this is about.  They have a few pieces of legislation they have been having trouble with because, well they suck, and we are watching, so they need us to watch elsewhere.  What better diversion, to divide and ignite the people on both sides of this argument, than DADT?  This will definitely rile up both sides, and probably fracture the middle.  Then while we are all arguing about this…BAMMO we get:

Missouri State Representatives take on ObamaCare

God, how I love Missouri and Missourians.  Even with complete Wastes-of-skin®  like Cleaver, Carnahan, and Claire-Bear McCaskill around, Missourians, and for the most part those who are elected to represent them, are pretty awesome.  The Representatives from the Missouri General Assembly below are pushing Missouri House Joint Resolution 57, which, if passed would put a Referendum on the ballot to Amend the Missouri Constitution basically Nullifying the personal mandate.  It makes me smile with Evil Glee® just thinking about it.  It states in part:

“To preserve the freedom of citizens of this state to provide for their health care, no law or rule shall compel, directly or indirectly or through penalties or fines, any person, employer, or health provider to participate in any health care system.  A person or employer may pay directly for lawful health care services and shall not be required to pay penalties or fines for paying directly for lawful health care services.  A health care provider may accept direct payment for lawful health care services and shall not be required to pay penalties or fines for accepting direct payment from a person or employer for lawful health care services.”

Looking at the District Map it becomes confusing with no clear geographical description, but basically ALL of SouthWest Missouri is on board with the exception of a few districts within Greene County, Barry County, Stone County, Most of Taney, and Ozark County. This is some of the poorest parts of Missouri along with Stoddard, Dunklin, Mississippi, New Madrid, and Pemiscot Counties. Of course there is the oft-maligned I70 corridor that trends Liberal, KC is a mish mash, St. Louis is mostly a loss.

If you live in one of the Liberal Areas put pressure on your representative to push this initiative, we citizens of Missouri should at least get to vote on it.

This is currently not listed on the calendar to go to a vote but with the majority party in control and almost all of them co-sponsoring look for a ballot initiative amend the Missouri Consititution to nullify the individual mandate of ZeroCare.

I had a very knowledgeable person tell me Nullification was non constitutional, I then asked him if the Individual mandate would be, and he said it was also non-constitutional.  So I say we fight fire with fire.

Also in the works is the re-affirmation of the Missouri’s Sovereignty under the 10th Amendment…stay tuned for that one when it is introduced.

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele predicted Monday night that the GOP will not regain control of the House in the 2010 midterm elections.

Steele said during an interview with Fox News’s Sean Hannity that Republicans will see some “nice pick-ups in the House” but would not predict the number of seats the GOP will win. “I can't give a number yet,” Steele said. “We are just now beginning to look at races.”

Asked if Republicans will retake the House, Steele responded: “Not this year.” Steele added: “We still have vacancies that need to get filled. “If we do that, are we ready? I don't know. That's what I'm assessing and evaluating now.”

While we slept this morning, the real mobsters, the ones dishing out and accepting bribes in the District of Criminals, completely fucked our country along straight party lines (60-39) … with the first vote on Christmas Eve in more than a century.
Atlas just shrugged.
And the funny thing is, we didn’t sleep. We marched on our capitol buildings during the spring, leading up to TEA Party day on April 15. We screamed during townhall meetings and at local Congressional and Senate offices all summer long. We marched on Washington a million-plus strong in September. We stormed Congressional offices in the fall. We added more than a million signatures to a petition to Congress to stop this madness. We phoned and we blogged and we emailed and we snail mailed and we faxed and we twittered and we bled patriotism, pleading with them:
STOP WHAT YOU’RE DOING AND USE YOUR LAST BRAIN CELL TO COME TO YOUR SENSES.
And they didn’t hear a fucking thing.
I don’t know how much more awake we could have been. I don’t know how much louder we could have screamed. I don’t know how many more ways we could have made our opposition known.
In the end, it didn’t matter. They think they know better than us. And now it’s done.
And that’s fine. Let them have their perceived notion of power. Let them slink back home for Christmas and get drunk on the stinking fumes of their “victory.” Let them dance wildly in the shimmery mirage of the “history” they’ve made.
Because now the real fight begins. The fight for November 2010 and 2012 and every forthcoming election thereafter. The fight to send these fuckers back to their homes, tattered and broken, never to be heard from again.
Be bloody angry. Let it burn in you. Let it harden your resolve. Use it to carry on and maintain your focus. Keep it close and keep it ready for when you need it, for when it will be your time to have your voice truly heard.
Get out your checkbooks and give to the organizations that will try to stop this un-Constitutional legislation in the courts. Beat the bushes and find real conservative candidates who are truly willing to honor the Constitution and write them checks and speak out on their behalf.
Then, when the time comes, scream so loudly with your finger in the voting booth that the Socialists will be shocked when the 7 p.m. newscasts declare them extinct.
We’re coming for you, fatcats. Enjoy your good times. Your days of thievery are done. Forever.

Across the state, images of Claire Bear as The Joker are popping up…caused by Missourians angry at her refusal to stop the government rationing of healthcare through Harry Reid’s dead of night, top secret, forced legislation.

Every single Democrat voting for this monstrous bill is a Joker. 

This is not how legislation should be passed.  This is not the American way.  This is how the Soviet Union and banana republics operated. 

McCaskill is not up for re-election until 2012, but we hope Missouri does not forget what she has done by then.  (we must never Forget)

We are all Batman today…and need to work hard to put McCaskill and her band of thugs out of business in 2010, 2012, and 2014…until every last one of The Gang of 60 is defeated.

UPDATE:  Some of you wonder why Claire McCaskill is now just the Second-Worst Living Senator.  Previously, she has been listed as the Worst Living Senator in our book.  Harry Reid, in our opinion, nudged her out of her title a few weeks back when he started calling opponents of Healthcare Rationing RAAACISTS, and said that opposing what he was doing with this secret, middle of the night legislation was tantamount to supporting slavery.  That is so wrong, so inappropriate, and so patently INSANE that we couldn’t help but list him as the Worst of the Worst.  McCaskill will, no doubt, regain her title in November 2010 when Reid is booted from office…and she will retain that title until she, too, is removed from the Senate in 2012.

Obamacare: There is No Baucus Bill, He might attacked by a Wolverine How and Why

The Blogosphere is on fire this morning over the Rinos both past and present according to Feed your ADHD, the lack of a Baucus Bill, etc etc. Here is how it went down, and how I learned about it.

First I heard of it was from BnGFan, she said “I'm Done” with the Republicans and has joined the Libertarian party. All this because of reports that the Republicans are getting all limp wristed and as our favorite clown prince would say, “their balls are falling off”. To BlackandGoldFan, Girl, I ain’t far behind ya. So that piqued my interest and right below that piece on the ole fellow KOOK blogroll I read what Opus#6 had to say. Opie was giving linky love to Legal Insurrection and reposted that There is no Baucus Bill. Hmmm No Baucus Bill you say… but haven’t I been hearing all about the Baucus Bill in the Senate? Yes I have, but it seems that still There is No Baucus Bill so how can the CBO score a bill that doesn’t exist? I had to find out more… so I went to The Sundries Shack (gotta check this one out more) and then I learned how a rabid wolverine could help the situation:

Last month, the Republicans members of the Senate Finance Committee asked to have the CBO score the bill introduced by Max Baucus (D-MT). The Democrats on the committee, led by Baucus and Kent Conrad said they’d only let the CBO do what it does best if it could use “plain language” wording instead of the far more precise legislative language and. Conrad patiently explained to all the dullards in America (which is 95 percent of us) that we couldn’t possibly understand the legislative language because it was all hard and stuff.

The head of the CBO, however, said there was no way his outfit could calculate the real cost of the bill without, well, the actual bill, deucedly difficult language and all. I guess he figured he was in the five percent Conrad was willing to allow could understand Congressspeak. Well, the Republicans’ proposal not to treat America like we’re drooling idiots failed on mostly a party line vote not once but twice.

Well, the CBO went ahead and scored the Baucus Summary (it’s not a bill until it’s written in legislative language. You know, like an actual law) and, lo and behold, it’s not a huge deficit-buster! In fact, it will reduce the deficit by $81 billion. Such a miracle, it is!

Except that it’s not actually a miracle. Just as the CBO said last month, there’s no way it can accurately gauge the cost of the bill until it’s actually a bill. What the CBO really scored were concepts, explained in the most Obamacare-friendly manner by the Democrats. Of course those concepts will end up saving money and spontaneously producing unicorns whose emanations smell like begonias. Experience teaches us otherwise, does it not?

I don’t blame the CBO for this, though it will take a lot of blame, especially from the Democrats when Obamacare finally blows up in its face. Doug Elmendorf, who heads up the office, is in a bad position. He’s pretty much bound to do what Congress wants him to do, even if puts him in the position of Dilbert before the Pointy-Headed Boss. The only way he can get out of the bad position the Democrats have put him in with any sort of grace is to lob a starving wolverine onto Max Baucus’ head and sneak away amidst the confusion. Baucus could save himself a vicious wolverine-savaging by doing his job, coming up with a bill, and not by using Doug Elmendorf as a human shield for his fiscal shell game.

Lastly there are reports that the Damn Dems are going to use one of the oldest tricks in the dirty playbook to pass some meaningless bill or even use a bill that has already passed and amend the Obamacare language into it. GAH!

The 9/12 March on DC: A Proud Day For The American People

I've been reading some of the posts of my blogger friends who have written about their experiences at Saturday's 9/12 March on DC. I will try to expand on their stories with my photos and thoughts, but I think we all are basically reporting the same story...it was one of the most gratifying things we have done in our lives.
On Friday my husband and I drove from New Jersey and arrived in Alexandria, VA where we met up with our friends. The hotel was packed with people from all over the country and everyone was excited to be there for the Saturday march.

We took the Metro on Saturday morning from the Van Dorn station, which is pretty far from DC. People just kept piling on as we rode to our final destination. It was standing room only. We sat next to a dentist and a medical doctor from South Carolina. Both were outspoken about their opposition to ObamaCare and Obama administration's policies in general.
The site that greeted us when we emerged from the Metro at the Federal Triangle stop was breathtaking. As we approached Pennsylvania Ave., the sea of people was overflowing onto the sidewalks. The police were telling the people to get off of the sidewalks, because the permit was only good for the street. But the street was so filled, and the press of people so great, that it was almost impossible not to overflow onto the sidewalks.
The marchers were trying to line up by state and, by some miracle, the Florida group was moving through the lines led by the state flag, so we were able to start the march with our fellow Floridians. And speaking of miracles, during the march down Pennsylvania Ave. we actually ran into 3 friends of ours from Florida in the crowd. One couple had traveled by bus from Florida the day before and headed back to Florida Saturday night.

We were in the midst of so many people that we couldn't move. But with all the crowd squeezed together, there was no pushing or shoving. The crowd politely made way for wheelchairs and people who asked to move through. An ATM repairman with a big, heavy bag of tools who unfortunately found himself having to cross the street to make his way to a job, was helped and guided through by the protesters.
The crowds were so great, that the march began early. We were lucky to be far enough in the front to be among the protesters on the Capitol lawn. So many were kept behind the fences and had to line up all along the mall down to the Washington Monument. It was a site to behold.

Although the skies threatened rain all day, we were blessed with dry, cool weather. The speakers were enthusiastic and motivating. The people were courteous, kind and helpful. We had folks come up to us, shake our hands and thank us for coming. The Capitol Police were respectful and helpful, but they sure weren't needed to help me feel safe. I have never felt safer among a crowd of people in my life.
The people we met were proud to be there and most have never attended a protest in their life. Many took their children. What was obvious, and unfortunately misrepresented in the state-run media, is the fact that the people at the rally were there on their own, taking time from their busy schedules, traveling thousands of miles, spending their hard earned money on transportation and hotels just to be in DC on that special day. All of this was done for love of their country and fear for it's future.

I have heard differing estimates as to how many people were in attendance. I don't doubt that there were over a million in attendance. I saw it with my own eyes.
I also want to add that at the end of the protest, the Capitol grounds were left spotless. Trash was placed in bags and taken with the protesters or placed in trash cans around the area.

There is one thing I know...this experience has proved to me that the people of this country are waking up. The patriots at the rally are a testament to the greatness of this country. It will be a direct result of them and those around the country with like minds, that we will get our country back on track.
I want to personally thank everyone who attended a rally on Saturday or who supported the rallies around the country. I know many of you could not attend one in person, but I know you were there in spirit. We're all in this together and if Saturday was an example of our determination and resolve, then we can be assured that we are fighting a good fight.
This is not the end. We have a long way to go. Keep the faith and keep on fighting for our Republic.
