How Close to Communism Are We?

From Blackandgoldfan on The Right Stuff: How Close to Communism Are We? This is a great post and since I have been so busy with work, the new housemate, travel, and DC prep I have not been able to do my own research for a post of my own. As usual my comments in Blue, BNGfan’s words in gold

In the recent debate over socialized medicine, those of us who believe in liberty and the power of the free market system have been labeled "Communists" for speaking out against a massive power grab on the part of the government. The left also rejoices calling us Nazis and Fascists, and that demonstrates a massive ignorance on their part. All are statist political views and all are way to the left of where I (and most of the bloggers) stand. But do we really understand what constitutes a Communist nation? I, for one, really didn't understand EXACTLY what that meant: until now. And it scares the crap out of me. What we are headed for may not be communism but it is some sort of Statism, Fascist, Nazi, Communist, Socialist. And it scaring the crap out of me is what started this blog.
My perception of Communism was limited to my experiences growing up as a teenager in the 80's when the Soviet Union exemplified Communism. We knew that people waited for hours for bread and other basic necessities and that the media was controlled by the State. Little did I know that now, in my adult years, my beloved country is on the brink of becoming a symbol of everything the Founding Fathers abhorred.
In 1848, Karl Marx published The Communist Manifesto, which gave specific criteria outlining what Communism is and what it takes for a country to be considered Communist. The following is a list of what are considered the ten "planks" of Communism. As you read them, think about what we've seen transpire since January.

  1. Abolition of private property and the application of all rents of land to public purposes -- I'm no expert, but for some reason, the terms "zoning laws" and "eminent domain" come to mind. The federal government already owns a huge percentage of land in this country and just this year CA was considering selling its’ state parks to the Federal Government.
  2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax -- Remember this one on April 15. We are taxed on everything from vices to merely existing. What's that? There is no such tax? Oh, yes there is. It's called the per capita tax.
  3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance -- When a loved one passes and you inherit their property, you pay a tax on it despite the fact that the taxes on that property have already been paid. If you don't pay it, the government will take it. By making the "death tax" onerous, it could potentially ensure that the government gets the deceased's estate.
  4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels -- This one could come down to interpretation of words. Who's to say that a "rebel" isn't one of us bloggers or the average American who doesn't agree with the government? And how many times has the IRS been used against political enemies? If necessary, Google "Billy Dale" or "Clinton Travelgate." I contend that it is the express Function of the IRS to be used as a weapon to intimidate and control people.
  5. Centralization of credit in the hands of the state, by means of a national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly -- The Federal Reserve is a PRIVATE banking entity regulated by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), another privately-owned entity. All local banks are members of the Fed system, which practices fractional reserve banking and sets the standards that the government follows like blind sheep. Bank Bailout anyone?
  6. Centralization of the means of communication and transportation in the hands of the State -- One only has to look to the recent legislation introduced by Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) to know that control of communication is a real possibility. Couple that with the capitulation of the MSM and you've got state-run media. With regard to transportation, any trucker will tell you about all the restrictions placed on them depending upon the load. At the very least, there's the DOT. The government has taken complete control over who can drive and who can't through the licensing process. Sounds centralized to me! Amtrak Subisidies, Auto Industry Bailout, FAA getting more and more intrusive, the clarion call for a Passenger bill of rights? The recent huge focus on small aircraft crashes? It is coming.
  7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the State, the bringing into cultivation of waste lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan -- Department of Agriculture regulations regarding what can and cannot be used in farming would, in my opinion, fall under this heading. Little bit of trivia, FDR was the mastermind of the perversion of the USDA into a group that controlled farmers. Between the USDA and the Conservation Departments, BLM, and the like, Farmers are generally told what to grow and how much. The Govt. also controls prices through subsidies to either reward or punish. Farmers are de facto employees of the Government.
  8. Equal liability of all to labor. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for farming. -- Affirmative Action and Obamacorps, anyone? How many times have we heard the call from 1600 for America's youth to volunteer, especially in the "green" industry? And all Affirmative Action does is take away the right of an employer to hire the best of the best regardless of skin color. It's forced integration and reverse discrimination. WPA and CCC were the predecessors of Americorps and whatever “Army” Chairman Zero was talking about.
  9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries, gradual abolition of the distinction between town and country, by a more equitable distribution of the population over the country. -- For now, we do have the Tenth Amendment to protect states from the federal government overreaching its powers. Without it, I'm almost certain this administration would have already erased state borders, creating one huge state. Population redistribution has already been done. A recent ruling in Federal Court dictates that Section 8 housing MUST be built in the predominantly affluent area of Westchester County, New York. Hope the Clintons enjoy living in the small microcosm of the world that they've wanted to create for years. Look at what the census is doing for the “gradual abolition of the distinction between town and country” in this post of mine they are much farther along in this regard than many would realize. Combination of Manufacturing with Agricultural Industries?…Not exactly sure what this means but I can tell you that the days of the independent farmer are all but over. Tyson, BP, Cargill, and many other “Agribusinesses” dominate.
  10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children's factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production. -- Those of us who don't send our kids to private schools have no option other than government-run indoctrination centers. Homeschooling, you say? While parents have the option of homeschooling their most precious gifts from God, the government still has a hand in it. In most states, students are still required to take government-created standardized tests. And Heaven forbid we teach the kids of today about work. No wonder the vast majority have NO work ethic whatsoever and a complete disregard for any structure within a business. Half of them don't care about being on time or doing the very best job they can. Just ask anyone who has worked with them in the fast food industry as I have. Look what happened to the DC voucher system.
Now that you may have a more clear understanding of what Communism truly is, only one question remains: To what lengths will you go to to defend the sanctity of the principles put on paper by the Founders?
We now know our enemy, and he took office January 20, 2009.

The only thing I will add is that there is still time to book your flight to DC on 9/12.

The downward spiral....

Obama and his supporters feel like caged animals. They are losing support like our east coast Florida beaches lose sand during a "noreaster". This is an example of the desperation tactics Obama and his supporters will increasingly resort to in coming days...
Town-hall clash! Arrest threat over Obama 'Joker' poster
Officer to protester: This ain't America no more

Editor's note: Earlier reports that Officer Wesley Cheeks Jr. is a police officer were in error. Further investigation has revealed Officer Cheeks is a member of the Fairfax County Public Schools' trained School Security Officer team. To contact the school's security force, e-mail Fred Ellis, the director of safety and security for Fairfax County Public Schools, or Jim McLain, the security coordinator.

A depiction of the sign banned by Officer Cheeks

"This used to be America," argued a protester outside a health-care town hall meeting in Reston, Va., after a security officer threatened him with arrest for holding up a sign with a picture critical of Barack Obama.

The officer's response?

"It ain't no more, OK?"

Get the prescription for reclaiming America's heritage of liberty – before the what the officer said is true – Joseph Farah's "Taking America Back," autographed only at the WND SuperStore.

A video of the town hall held earlier this week by Rep. Jim Moran, D-Va., shows an unnamed protester standing on school grounds carrying a sign that read "Organizing for National Socialist Health Care – The Final Solution" and depicted Barack Obama in the Joker's makeup.

Officer Wesley Cheeks Jr. then told the protester that even though others were holding signs, his sign was unacceptable because of the depiction of Obama.

"But you got this with a picture," Cheeks said, explaining why the protester was being singled out from the others. "That's the difference. This has got a picture on it. That don't have a picture on it.

"Sir, leave the picture down," the officer said. "If you put the picture back up, you'll be charged with trespassing."

Video of the exchange can be seen below: continues below)

The protester continued the argument, wondering how his presence among hundreds of others at the town hall meeting could be deemed trespassing.

The officer answered, "If I told you once to take it down and you put it back up, I can charge you with whatever I want to charge you with."

The argument continued until the officer walked away.

"This used to be America," said the protester.

"It ain't no more, OK?" answered Cheeks.

Officer Cheeks is a member of the Fairfax County Public Schools' trained School Security Officer team. The school's security force, however, refused to comment on the story until its communications offices reopen on Monday.

As WND has reported, Americans have been flocking to lawmakers' health-care town hall meetings, typically voicing loud displeasure with the ever-expanding size of the federal government and what many see as yet another intrusive expansion.

All across the country, legislators coming to their home districts in attempt to sell the health-care plan to constituents are being met with fierce opposition and huge crowds:

The biggest source of protests are the health-care bill, the $787 billion economic stimulus package and the cap-and-trade legislation. They're also angry about Barack Obama's refusal to release his birth certificate to prove he is a "natural born citizen" and constitutionally eligible to serve in the White House.

According to an Associated Press report, Obama's top political adviser, David Axelrod, showed senators in D.C. video of some of the boisterous town-hall meetings and discussed how to respond to disruptions.

"It's a challenge, no question about it, and you've got to get out there and make the case," Sen. Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., said afterward. "This is not the time for the faint-hearted"

Our 912 DC trip: the Smithsonian...

KOOK and I in planning our trip to DC aren't just going there to protest and do politics. We will be taking an extra day to take in as much of Washington DC as possible in our spare time. We want to see (for me what has been several times) as much of the history of our country and legacy of this Nations' greatest minds as possible. The first place that came to mind for us to visit was a unanimous choice on both our parts. That place is the Smithsonian Museums. Nowhere in one place is there more of American history to be seen and shared with you than at the Smithsonian. I could go into everything that is there to be seen and shared but I don't have a month to do this post. Unfortunately I will not have a month to spend there at the Smithsonian and believe me I could do so very easily. However, given the opportunity to do one thing in DC where we can see more, learn more and share more with you it is there. You can go to the Smithsonian's website here and preview a little of our planned trip for

Latest Blog Updates

Just a quick update on some minor changes to the blog. I changed the labels to a tag cloud, this takes up less room and is a visual representation of the topics we cover. Joel and I are. Not always good at adding labels to our posts and periodically I go in and relabel everything. But as the blog grows larger and larger post wise this topical indexing becomes more Important so we wil do better. I changed the intense debate comments plugin to use a pop-up style interface; this wil make it easier for iPhone users (including Joel and I)
You all have no doubt noticed the linked in suggestions foe other posts you might enjoy; this is a really great plugin I first saw over at TCL. This plugin has made it more desireable to insert pictures into our posts and readers, it seems like pictures anyway, so I wil be using pictures more often. Other than that I just want to say thanks to all the folks who are joining us everyday, and hello to the new folks. Joel and I boh appreciate the positive comments we have received. We all must just keep fighting the fight and stay our course because it appears we are beginning to win.

1932 – 2009

Nothing Snarky. I might have not agreed with pretty much anything he ever did personally or professionally, although he must have done some good. One thing is certain, our political landscape will change some because of his passing. He was well spoken of by many many of the people who worked around and with him. He defintely stayed his course, and fought his fight.

Conservatives be prepared, Do It For Teddy, will be the battle cry.

If Obama Fails, It's Not His Fault

Posted by The Keeper of Odd Knowledge (Kook) with a big Hat Tip to : Right Klik: If Obama Fails, It's Not His Fault

It looks like the Demokrat MSM are preparing for what might be the inevitable failure of their Messiah's health care plan. Some amazing damage control memes are beginning to emerge:

1. Failure is good!

From Slate:

It's easy to forget that, even if Obama's health care effort is bogging down, the effort itself still serves his presidency as a crucial time-waster, tying up Congress and giving him a reason to postpone (or the public a reason to ignore) those other divisive, presidency-killers" [e.g. cap and trade, immigration legalization, card check and the Afghan War].

"If he keeps failing to pass health care until spring, that might not be such a bad outcome. In fact, even quick passage was maybe never in his interest. There are things more unpopular than struggling...

Failure is success? Yeah ― they're that desperate!

2. Obama's failure is really a failure of the national press corps, the left wing and the Demokratic party.

From The New York Times:

Throughout the 2008 campaign, Barack Obama’s most loyal constituencies were the national press corps and the left wing of the Democratic Party.

But now both groups are turning on him. As the health care debate enters its decisive weeks, the left doubts President Obama’s commitment, and the press doubts his competence.

...[we] assume that some kind of legislation will eventually pass.

If it doesn’t, President Obama will have been defeated. But it’s the party, not the president, that will have failed.

Rhetorical question: If Obama's not running the Demokrat party, who is???

3. Obama is bogged down because he has been working so hard to accommodate Republicans.

From Bloomberg:

Schumer, speaking on NBC’s “Meet the Press” yesterday, said Obama and Democratic leaders are “bending over backwards” to win Republican support. “It’s looking less and less likely that certainly the Republican leadership in the House and Senate will want to go for a bipartisan bill,” he said.

As RNC chairman Michael Steele has pointed out, this claim is patently absurd. Demokrats have not been striving for ― nor have they been expecting ― Republican cooperation...

From Fox News:

Steele told reporters that he thinks if Democratic senators think they have the votes, they should try a tactic that would allow them to get around a bill-killing filibuster without the 60 votes usually needed. Steele said he didn't think Democrats would do it because of potential voter backlash.

"Get it to the floor. Up or down, baby," Steele said at a news conference at the state GOP headquarters. "Put it on the table. And if you don't think you've got enough votes to get to 60, you've got the nuclear option. You've got 51."

The legislative tactic Steele suggested, called "reconciliation," would allow senators to get around a bill-killing filibuster without mustering the 60 votes usually needed. Democrats control 60 of the Senate's 100 seats, but some moderate Senate Democrats have expressed reservations about Obama's plan.

4. Obama is failing because he's too nice.

From The LA Times, words of encouragement from Rep. Maxine Waters:

"Yes, we know that you are a nice man... But there comes a time when you need to drop that and move forward," Waters said. "We're saying to you, Mr. President, 'Be tough. Use everything that you've got. Do what you have to do. And we have your back.' "

Obama's "nice guy" veneer is barely skin deep. Barack "I WON" Obama, the self-described ruthless pragmatist, has already pulled out all the stops for his agenda. And that is precisely the problem.

Twenty-seven days after taking office, Obama abandoned his short-lived commitment to transparency and bipartisanship and signed his ill-conceived stimulus bill into law. In his frenzy to push the legislation through Congress, Barack had managed to earn the hesitant support of a grand total of two extant Republicans (RINOs, both from the same state).

Since that very turbulent moment, Americans have developed persistent doubts about Obama's judgement and leadership strategy. And in the process they have rediscovered their self-confidence. The Wall Street Journal explains:

American democracy has never been democracy by plebiscite, a process by which a leader is anointed, then the populace steps out of the way, and the anointed one puts his political program in place. In the American tradition, the "mandate of heaven" is gained and lost every day and people talk back to their leaders. They are not held in thrall by them. The leaders are not infallible or a breed apart. That way is the Third World way, the way it plays out in Arab and Latin American politics.

Those protesters in those town-hall meetings have served notice that Mr. Obama's charismatic moment has passed. Once again, the belief in that American exception that set this nation apart from other lands is re-emerging.

Let's be clear. Obama's problem in implementing ObamaCare is not the press corps, the left wing Demokrats, the GOP, the protesters or the "naysayers". His critics aren't his problem. His proposal is.

The Conservative Lady: Glenn Beck Series - Day 1: The New Republic: America's Future

Glenn Beck is doing a series this week that he asks us to watch and to share with everyone we know. I've decided to post "The One Thing" video from each day and ask everyone to watch his shows this week at 5 PM ET on the Fox News Channel.
Question With Boldness
Monday, August 24, 2009
By Glenn Beck
Am I hateful if I ask:
• Can we survive this debt? If yes, how? I still say that if we go broke instead of allowing our debt to bankrupt the world we will have a “bankruptcy” of sorts where the worldwide debt will be reconciled somehow and one way that this will happen is to go to a one world currency…it just seems logical to me…and I know I tend to be a little…tetched.  But think about it.  China is kind of like the dog that finally caught the car speeding down the road.  Does it have us?  Or do we have them?  It is a new form of Nuclear Deterrent.  Those of you as old or older than me know what I mean.  M.A.D – Mutually assured destruction.
• Why the rush on health care reform, cap-and-trade?I think the generally accepted theory by us Clingers is to overwhelm the system to tear it down.
• Who is writing these bills?  Apollo and Soros group, Acorn,  and others like them
• Will Washington read and understand the bills?  No they will not but even though they will not read them they will still tell us that we should support them and act as if they know what is in there, telling us that we are wrong about what our lyin eyes and ears tell us.
• Why are you called "grassroots" if you are for, but "Astroturf" if you are against?
• Our unfunded liabilities for Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid is close to $100 trillion. Is there any way to pay for these programs without bankrupting America? If the unfunded liability is $191,000 per CITIZEN then one way to begin to dig out is to tax the citizens we have more or another way would be to make more citizens…Amnesty anyone?
• We are in so much debt, why spend more borrowed money on cap-and-trade and health care programs before we stop the flow of red ink?
• The stimulus package funneled billions of dollars to ACORN: How does giving billions of dollars to ACORN stimulate the economy?
• If it was so important for Congress to pass the stimulus bill before they even had time to read it, why has only a fraction of the stimulus money been spent six months later?
• Former President Bush said he had to abandon free market principles in order to save them; how exactly does that work?
• Why won’t member of Congress read the bills before they vote on them?
• Why are citizens mocked and laughed at when they ask their congressman to read the bills before they vote on them? …it is interesting that the very people who say that we are making up all kinds of lies and misinformation regarding what is in the bill, ADMIT they have not read the bill, and cannot understand it without several lawyers!  Then don’t tell me it is what we need, and we are wrong about what is in it.
• Was the "cash for clunkers" program meant to save the Earth or the economy? Did it accomplish either? it is just another way to bail out the car industry.  More importantly I saw on the news where dealers were double dipping.  Not taking the $4500 off of the price of the car but still collecting the rebate.
• How did Van Jones, a self-proclaimed communist, become a special adviser to the president?  FBI not vetting certain WH advisors.  WH successfully circumvented FBI background checks.
• Did President Obama know of Van Jones’ radical political beliefs when he named him special adviser?
• The Apollo Alliance claimed credit for writing the stimulus bill; why was this group allowed to write any portion of this bill? And Glenn also said that Van Jones had the idea for Cash for Clunkers but he called it Hoopty’s for Hybrids.
• If politicians aren’t writing the bills and aren’t reading the bills, do they have any idea what these 1,000-page plus bills actually impose on the American people?
• If the "public option" health care plan is so good, why won’t politicians agree to have that as their plan?
• If town hall meetings are intended for the politicians to learn what’s on our mind, why do they spend so much time talking instead of listening?
• Politicians are refusing to attend town hall meetings complaining, without evidence, that they are scripted. Does that mean we shouldn’t come out and vote for you since every campaign stop, baby kiss and speech you give is scripted?
• Why would you want to overwhelm the system?  To set up an Oligarchy, or maybe a Hegemony.
• Is using the economic crises to rush legislation through Congress what Rahm Emanuel meant when he talked about not letting a crisis go to waste?
• What are the president's "czars" paid? What is the budget for their staffs/offices?
— Watch "Glenn Beck" weekdays at 5 p.m. ET on FOX News Channel

Load and Make Ready!

Rounding out my membership into the RWBCNJ* club I thought I would post some of my Tools of Evil Destruction(TM)…also known as Guns to all the rest of you, my comrades in arms. I do not know why I have been remiss thus far in sharing these with the rest of the group. I shared pics of the Boat, the Tractor, and the 4x4…this is all that is left other than a cooler of beer. Then my credentials as a RWBCNJ Redneck will be complete. I won’t share all the pics at once that way if any of our friends of the more liberal persuasion see this they won’t go into shock and run hysterically screaming from the room. It is not my intention to scare anyone.

img201 img200

Just bought this TO-DAY. My first foray into the “scary black guns” It is a Hi Point 9mm Carbine. It shoots SA-Weet. Burned about 100 rounds through it today. My ears are still ringing. A Flashlight and a red-dot scope are definitely on the list.

Due to the fact I have a surgically repaired shoulder I get to play with these too. Cross-bows are bad ass. Silent and deadly. Just the way I like it.

Remington model 742 in 30.06. I actually have matching ones. Because one 30.06 just is not enough. In the picture here it is snuggling up to the new ‘9.

Here is one you won’t see every day. On the left is a Bolt Action 16 Ga. Shotgun that belonged to my Pappy…er…Maternal Grandfather to any of the elitists still with us. To the right of that is my .50 cal Muzzle Loader.

And lastly, for this post, (and I had to go downstairs to the other gun case for this one) is my .22-250. You know for those long distance calls. Nothing like shattering everlasting gobstoppers at 200 yards. Who knew they exploded when hit by a tiny projectile traveling a coupla times the speed of sound?

So….there is a few of my odes to the second amendment. What d’y’all think?

Is that a Technical Term?

Some type of inside Washington polispeak?  I must say I thought I was unfamiliar with the term.

"We have been through this before, in Iowa," Obama said, referring to the first state to hold a 2008 Democratic nominating contest, which saw him capture a come-from-behind win.

"All Washington said 'Oh, it's over,' hand-wringing angst ..."

Then Obama drew parallels to the media frenzy that greeted the nomination of firebrand Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin in 2008.

"The media was obsessed with it, cable was 24 hours a day," Obama told a friendly audience of grass-roots Democratic activists at a Washington forum broadcast live over the web.

"'Obama's lost his mojo,' you remember all that?

"There is something about August going into September where everybody in Washington gets all wee weed up!"

I was confused when I heard it and then I thought, “no, surely not”  But:

from Wee or Wee-wee may refer to:

But surely he must mean something else…and then that simpleton Gibbs confirmed that he was indeed talking about incontinence

So now if you do not like what he is doing you are a bed wetter too apparently.

So now I am a Bitter Right Wing Clinging Bed Wetter?

To paraphrase what he just said, “I have heard all of this before, they are just naysayers and now they are starting to wet themselves because my approval ratings are down, but I do not care, for I am the chosen one”

About the only things this jackass has wee wee’d is about 4 trillion dollars and most of the warm fuzzy’s people had for him.

A little too late to appeal to Morality

The blogs are on fire regarding this and I started not to post anything, but I might as well throw my .02 in.  For those of you who have not heard yet:

Obama urged religious leaders Wednesday to back his proposals, and he prepared for a pep talk to a much larger audience of liberal activists, whose enthusiasm is in question. Polls continued to show slippage in support for the president's approach, although Americans expressed even less confidence in Republicans' handling of health care.

Democrats Prepare to Push Health Care Without GOP - Political News -

Chairman Zero, the man who said we were not a Christian Nation, The same dude who called us all Bitter and said we Cling to our Guns and our Religion is now trying to appeal to America’s sense of Morality and Faith.  The Ol’ “Do it for the Children” approach.  The Man who was going to “put science back in its’ rightful place”.  A fearless proponent of social planning and secular progressive moral relativism at its’ best is now saying supporting Zero Care is the moral and religious thing to do?

Hey, Barry, if you had started the argument like this instead of systematically kicking every one of us in the proverbial testes it *might* have worked out a little better for you.  Having now thoroughly insulted us at every turn, with the back up vocals provided by your evil minions Pelosi, Frank, Feinstein, Boxer, Reid, Conyers, Saunders, etc.; we of the Bitter Clinger crowd might not be much inclined to go along with your new tune.

Something about non combusted hydrocarbons expelled vertically in an individual’s posterior come to mind…

The arrogance of him attempting this argument is simply astounding.  He has a brother living in accommodations about as nice as a porta potty, and Auntie Zetuini whom he dearly loved in his book, but is now willing to let live in Public Housing, and probably get deported.  And NOW he wants to “be my brother’s keeper” because it is the “Moral” thing to do?

The only reason he is resorting to this is because he is LOSING. BADLY.  Maybe it is because he realizes that the seasoned citizens would like to go ahead and live a while longer, and they vote, and there are a lot of them, and a large percentage might listen to their preacher.

BAH!  We are not buying it are we?

Let’s review who has been insulted so far in this sham of a Presidency.  NRA members, Evangelicals of every stripe, Conservatives, The elderly, the post office workers, the small businesses (especially plumbers), doctors, cops, our Air Force, the British, the Israelis, anyone making over $250k a year, Automakers, Insurance companies, Banks, The Coal Industry, The Oil Industry, Bloggers, Fox news, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and all their listeners, and the list goes on.  He is slowly learning that these tactics might not be helpful for the long term.
