House bill calls for federal tax on mileage

The story below is from Land Line.
DemocRats are getting desperate for new money sources.
If they could, the DemocRats would tax the air we breath.(They will get to it, give them time)
When will the tax schemes stop?
------------------------------
A bill up for consideration in the U.S. House seeks to change the way highway users are taxed to fund transportation.
Rep. Earl Blumenauer, D-OR, introduced a bill that would establish a federal pilot program to study vehicle miles traveled, or VMT, as a possible supplement to or possible replacement for the current per-gallon fuel tax. The bill, HR3311, does not specify what would happen to the fuel tax if a VMT program were established.

that is why folks like me can unhook odometers (on cars made before 2003) without anyone being able to tell. Not that I ever have had good reason to, but if a mileage tax was passed, that could be defined as motivating. I bet Waxman opposed the breathing tax so this was the next option.
