A good parable...and this morning's Rant.

The Haircut

One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut. After the cut he asked about his bill and the barber replied, 'I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.' The florist was pleased and left the shop. When the barber went to open his shop the next morning there was a 'thank you' card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door. Later, a cop came in for a haircut, and when he tried to pay his bill, the barber again replied, 'I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.' The cop was happy and left the shop. The next morning when the barber went to open up there was a 'thank you' card and a dozen donuts waiting for him at his door. Later that day, a college professor came in for a haircut, and when he tried to pay his bill, the barber again replied, 'I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.' The professor was very happy and left the shop. The next morning when the barber opened his shop, there was a 'thank you' card and a dozen different books, such as 'How to Improve Your Business' and 'Becoming More Successful.' Then, a Congressman came in for a haircut, and when he went to pay his bill the barber again replied, 'I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.' The Congressman was very happy and left the shop. The next morning when the barber went to open up, there were a dozen Congressmen lined up waiting for a free haircut.

And that, my friends, illustrates the fundamental difference between the citizens of our country and the members of our Congress.

Simply put there are givers and there are takers in this world.

The biggest bunch of takers are people in Government who want a huge centralized government. The second bunch are the people who, because of promises of all kinds of goodies taken from others, vote for them. They tell us over and over and over again that the EVIL RICH™ are the takers, but they are the only ones producing anything…they are the givers. Everyone who pays more in taxes than they receive back from the Government is a Giver.

The news stories bear this out, the very people who say they are there to help the poor and downtrodden, are the ones when closer inspected give nothing to charities. These same folks are the ones who don’t pay their taxes. (what is it, about 8 in the administration already? And these are people who are supposed to be the BEST in Washington, what does that say about the rest of the clowns up there?) Meanwhile the guy working in a nasty sweaty hot factory on a graveyard shift goes to church and gives all he can afford. The farmer who works from “come light to can’t see” in the sun and the heat and the rain and the cold, volunteers on the Fire Department, or is part of the church, the local Jaycees, helps kids in FFA or 4H. What are the weasels in Washington doing? Taking jets 3000 miles across country to see their families every week at taxpayer expense, spending nearly half a million dollars to fly the president's party plane on a low buzz of NY scaring the bejeebers out of folks for a freaking photo op. Pouring money into teachers unions across the country and killing the best program there has ever been to educate kids in inner city DC. Confirming a Pro abortionist to HHS secretary, burying Planned Parenthood in money to abort babies in Inner cities and then have the gall and nerve to claim they feel the plight of the poor black women who live in those cities. We have a president that has promised to spend more money than the country has spent since its founding, then says he is making his staff cut the budget by 100 million, then a week later asks for 1.5 Billion for flu research… which should put things in perspective. He says he doesn’t want big government, that he doesn’t want to run these companies and doesn’t want to micro-manage. But he didn’t let the board of directors decide Rick Wagoner’s fate…he fired him personally. Contradiction? Car companies were all too big to fail, couldn’t go bankrupt, had to bail them out, now they are going bankrupt, and being ran by the UAW and an Italian maker of craptastic inferior product. The UAW and the SEIU were gung ho about card check and amnesty…ever stop to wonder why? Make it so they can bully people into joining the union and make it so there are a bunch of uneducated poor folks streaming across the border… connect the dots there. Somehow this legislation was killed thank the Lord.
See any trends with Unions in this administration? By the way, (in my best Yosemite Sam voice) “Ah Hate Unions!”
It is a pretty neat trick Unions and Washington Weasels play on people. They fool us into thinking they are givers when all they are doing is taking, and all so they can stay in power and take some more.
Sorry I didn’t mean to go on so long , I just wanted to share a cute story…then I got all worked up.
