HARTFORD, Conn. -- The Connecticut Senate on Thursday approved a measure that would ban children under 16 years old from handling or shooting machine guns. The legislation, which passed on a 31-2 vote, stems from the October death of an 8-year-old Ashford boy who accidentally shot himself in the head with an Uzi at a Massachusetts gun show."For a young person, a minor, to handle an automatic weapon ... it's like saying that it's OK to pick up a rattlesnake and that it is somehow going to be safe," said Senate President Donald E. Williams Jr., D-Brooklyn. "It's not going to be safe and it should not be legal and I would think that a lot of folks would be shocked that there was not a law." read the rest of this nonsense
1. Let go ahead and make it a law that 8 year olds should not juggle chainsaws. Let’s make a law that 8 year olds shouldn’t wrestle gorillas. Let’s make a law that 8 year olds shouldn’t drink and drive while talking on the cell phone and juggling knives.
THIS IS STUPID
2.Lets use a law already on the books. How about Child Endagerment or Negligence on the part of the PARENT. “no matter how many times I told little Rufus not to play with the fully automatic loaded machine guns, he was always playin with em!” what KIND OF IDIOT …never mind, you get the point.
3.And the reason they will not hold the parent responsible is because the Government does not want parents to be responsible, the Government wants to be responsible for children
4.Why was the gun loaded at the gun show?
5.So they expect us to believe that a parent, and a gun trader allowed a loaded machine pistol to be handled by an 8 year old child, never dawning on these two geniuses that it might not be a good idea, but a LAW is going to stop it?
“Well Rastus, I would like to let you play with the fully loaded machine gun, but it is against the law” COME ON!
6.The metaphor here is all wrong as well. I could take the average 8 year old and in an afternoon educate that child, guide and direct that child, in short, Parent that child, in such a way that a loaded gun would be no more a danger to them than any other extremely powerful tool. I do not care what you say, handle rattlesnakes long enough you will get bit. Take reasonable care and you can handle guns your whole life and not get hurt.
7.And seriously what difference if it was an UZI or a single shot .22 rifle. Kid picks up a gun in the middle of a gun show (still want to know why it was loaded) and shoots himself in the head, he is just as dead. One gun is not really that much different from another in that regard…which brings me to my next point
8.This is step one. There is now a law on the books banning certain people from handling certain guns. Now watch the Judicial and Legislative creep begin.
9. Lastly...what...do we have to have a law for everything? I am not shocked there was not a law against this. I am also not shocked there is not a law against using your child for alligator bait either...maybe we need that law too?
10. So everything that is not safe must be illegal? That is the thinking folks...and therein lies our downfall. Once again, reminds me of Demolition Man. "salt has been deemed bad for you, therefore it is not good, and anything not good for you has been banned"
BUT IT IS “FOR THE CHILDREN!” Gag me with a spoon. "THIS CANNOT HAPPEN AGAIN, NOT IN AMERICA!" look, as long as there are stupid people, there are going to be tragedies. once again, google "Eugenics" that is where these fools will lead us.
