I knew it!

Saw on the fox news ticker that Tom Vilsack the sec. Of Agriculture would prefer it if we called swine flu H1N1 instead of swine flu...
Just one more liberal euphemism.

Sorry but I'm with them on this one...It's given a lot of people the wrong idea. Many think that they can get it from eating pork products which isn't true. It can have a bad effect on the market.

Never thought of that way... I suppose I can understand the point...but since they have called it swine flu for three days do you think it will "stick"?

Still I am prepared to concede the point that it could hurt the pork industry unecessarily
Undoubtedly it'll stick but I think it's really important for officials to call it H1M1. When it comes to news people, they'll probably still say swine flu just because that's what everyone knows it as...but it should be made very clear that you can't get it from eating pork.
As I said before, The Swine and Avian flu virus are nearly identical. I believe they are calling it swine flu because Obama's muslim beliefs. While both birds and swine are unclean to muslims, swine are seen as the lowest form of animal. In fact, the term "swine" is the term Muslims use to describe a "dirty pig." Call it coincidence if you want but if it looks like a pig and it smells like a pig then a Muslim would call it swine.

It's called swine flu because it first showed up in swine. It has nothing to do with Obama being a Muslim or kissing up to Saudis. And the White House is making every attempt to have it called its proper name.
Kook, you asked in A previous post what advantage was there to calling it swine flu. Answer: to kiss up to the Muslim nations like the Saudis.
How much land would be available for government takeover if every swine farm in America went into foreclosure
Napolitano is standing up for this too. It's funny because right now the United States government is the farmers biggest enemy.
