Planned Economy or Planned Destruction?

That’s the question this 1934 Chicago Tribune cartoon asked (if you cannot read all of it click the link):

I suppose if a cartoonist were to update this for today, the horse and wagon would be replaced by a car manufactured by General Government Motors.

I have felt like we are reliving 1929 all over again ever since the election. This emphasizes that point.

KOOKy, I was about to do a similar post on the economy. Remember, the stock market crashed in 29, but the depression waited almost 3 years to kick in. I was going to suggest in my post that the FED lower key interest rates to -2% that way you are at least promised to lose money in the future. It's the only honest thing to do. We did similar stupid things in the 1930's which killed the economy, then in order to get out it, financed the military buildups leading to WW2 for both sides. Gee...I bet I'm the first person you've ever seen to lay partial blame for WW2 on F.D.R.

I can't wait to see what kind of crap the unions and the government put out and call cars. We'll all be driving Toyotas and Hondas until they are banned by Obama to save the unions. (Did I mention I see him doing that?)
I read that Cato article and it is disturbing to say the least. The parallels today to the Great Depression are ominous to say the least. We never learn from history. Or is it that tyrants only care about power?Probably both. Read my ABC piece.....http://www.leftcoastrebel.com/2009/06/shock-and-a...

I study History in my spare time when I am not studying Religion, Climate, Hurricanes, Wildlife (both at home and in the wild), Automobiles and Politics, The one difference this time is that Hoover got the blame for the Depression because the market crashed on his watch. This time the first one happened under Obama's watch. They will try, I believe unsuccessfully to blame this on Bush, but polls already show that people think Obama is responsible for the economy. With everything Obama has pushed and will keep pushing, this will continue. In 1976, we were on the brink of going into Depression then. Remember the "misery index" and "stagflation"? People blamed Jimmy "the peanut farmer" for it and Reagan got voted in even by huge numbers of more liberal democrats. When folks look back in 2012 and see that Obama's policies led to similar problems and many don't even begin 'till 2013 or later, I bet a similar event occurs. The question is what party does this? Does Obama lose in a primary and Dems win again or do the Repubs or even a 3rd party pull the "Reagan sweep"? I know this is looking into a crystal ball but this is how I see events unfolding.
I think you may have the right of it. Wow, wouldn't that be historical (no pun intended) if Obama didn't secrue the nomination...wow.
