Should I change the blog up?

I keep tinkering with things on the site, and as our readership grows I would like to get some feedback.
I have heard that some people do not like a dark background and white text. Is this true? Should I change it?

I have thought about getting rid of some of the stuff in the side bars. If I did, what should I get rid of?

This is not just mine anymore. Everyone who contributes, comments, or reads it should have a say. After all I am a free marketeer, and I want the produt to meet the needs of the consumers.

Feedback please

I am all for experimenting but I will not tell anyone what to do with their blog. If it were mine, I would reduce the sidebars to one. Keep the dates, fellow KOOKs,other blogs to follow, the traffic/feedjit, Quotesdaddy, and followers. The background color is up to you, but remember a few weeks ago when you said you aren't mad anymore? Maybe that means it's time to ease up on the coloring. All this is strictly up to you as It your blog.

It is not just mine...
I know the feeling. I feel a sort of "responsibility" to put my best out there for our readers. Still, you are at the helm where these things are concerned. Being asked to contribute to C-Gen's climate change blog was a big deal for me. Then when I went over there and saw what quality work he had put into it, It made me feel like I had to "step up my game". I am new to blogging so for me it was almost like how I would imagine it would be to someone new to doing talk radio being asked to fill in for Beck or Rush for an hour. It makes you want to do your best. I hope it was what C-Gen wanted. I know I spent many hours trying to make my part as well as he made his and I would love to collaborate with him again in the future on Climate.
and I am still mad...just not frothing at the mouth all the time...because I know there are others out there.
I like the white-on-black, but that's what I use on my blog, so I could just be biased. Personally, I think it looks great the way it is, but we all like to change stuff up now and then.
Noticed that I started doing my comment text in purple, just as KOOK often does his in blue. I like the colors on "The Right Stuff and Self Evident Truths best personally. They have the color of faded parchment paper like the Constitution. Not that I want to copy them but aside from a "red white and blue theme, that seems most American.
Change your background to white and your text to black. It makes it much easier on the eyes. I know it doesn''t look as fancy, but people come here to read not for the graphics.

Point well made, content is what matters most and hopefully that is why readership has increased. Also you matter.

And you are one of our most loyal. I really appreciate the bloggers who post with us everyday. You guys and gals almost seem like family.
KOOK, you've got mail (e-mail).
I kind of think the dark background suits the blog title. But then again, I don't have a problem reading white on black.

We could lighten the background and keep other things such as animations and text dark. Just a thought.
It's hard for me to read on a dark background. This may be odd but I notice more women complain about that color sceme and more men seem to like it. (Now don't just say that's because more women complain...)

well statistically...I am just saying...
I vote for White with black text but like other I am torn as well. I would say that you should tread lightly! Maybe start out with some incremental changes and listen to feedback. Then you can trust your gut......

How about light grey with black text. I will still write my posts in that Purple which will be my trade mark. May favorite colors are green and purple. I won't use green because of my disgust with the "watermelon" green movement as Glen so aptly put it. It is green on the very thin layer on the outside, then right underneath, it is "red communist". So i am using my 2nd fave which is purple.
Andrew - I would try that first. Remember to save your template, that way you can go back if you need to!

KOOK does the artistic side of the blog. This is really his blog originally, I am just along for the ride and enjoying every minute of it.
Well I was all for swapping the colors, apparently I cannot do that because of this template. I even tried doing it in the HTML. It did not like that. I really like the look of it with a wider post body section, as on LCR's blog, but I spent a LOT of time making this into a three column blog. Now the problem is I am gridlocked in what I think is best to do. what parts of the sidebars would you guys dump? I am too biased and like it all.
