Why on Earth would he do this when we had a President not admit and be proved to be a liar, and then not even be convicted of perjury? A Democrat would not have stepped down. John Edwards is still kicking; he won’t even admit to his. Democrats view these types of things as Resume Enhancers…

I know we need to be the party of principle, but sheesh… They refuse to play by our rules but demand that we play by ours and not theirs.

I guess when you're a Dem, the rules are different. How I WISH one of these Reps would stand up and tell the Dems "I WILL NOT STEP DOWN!" Double standard, anyone?

I think this guy stepping down may help the Repubs in 2010. As the Dems trip over themselves trying have the biggest orgy and wanting the taxpayers to pay for it, more people are watching than ever. They may not be saying it as we are, but they are watching. Seeing a Republican doing the right thing without putting up a fight was refreshing after Mark Foley and the "wide stance" scandal. That is why many "Christian conservatives" didn't vote in 06 and 08. They are a big part of Reagan's winning "conservative coalition". I believe with everything Obama has done to spit in the collective faces of various Christian groups, some that even supported him, has put the "Christian Right" in play but not solidly yet. If Obama keeps doing what he's been doing, the Christian voters will be a very angry and highly motivated group by mid term elections. The Gays versus Churches battle in California may impact a certain voting block that is traditionally solidly democrat.
