Well The Supreme Court is a Failure

They did not uphold centuries of legal precedent and are allowing the Federal Government to overstep its' bounds to pick winners and losers in banruptcy and buyout proceedings with Chrysler and Fiat. Putting secured debt holders interests' after the interests of the Unions and Foreign businesses.

Way to stimulate investment, now every investment decision has to be made on the basis of Politics instead of profit. Secured debt, being guaranteed to be first in line to be repayed, means absolutely ZILCH

Great.

The one thing I can say about the Sotomayor appointment is that we're basically getting a spicier clone of Souter. Supreme Court Latina Sonia Sotomayor...has a ring to it, I suppose.

The thing that truly frustrates me about the situation isn't so much Sotomayor herself; I honestly doubt many people were surprised that Obama would pick someone oddly reminiscent of himself. What I'm really ticked about is that Republicans in the Senate have barely opposed her nomination at all for fear of being called racists. It's just terrible that our country is at a point that we can't criticize any non-white person without the racism card being played. It was bound to happen at some point, though. I'm just terribly disappointed.

Don't get me wrong, though...Sotomayor still frustrates me. Just not in a surprising way, if that makes any sense.
Actually, I'm not that bothered by Sotomayer. The reason being she is not an intellectual heavyweight that can go up against Roberts and Alito and win debates. There are a number of potential nominees that are that smart and may even be able to hold their own against the Conservative brains. Bush in picking Roberts and especially Alito, picked people that not only can vote but can influence swing votes too. Sotomayer and her racist bully tactics will only win over Code Pink. No matter what with Obama, your going to get a liberal, but trust me, the liberal you don't want is the one that can win debates and swing other justices. I really hope Sotomayer sails through because if not, the next pick my be a liberal intellectual equal of Alito.
I have mixed feelings about Chrysler being sold to Fiat. I know one thing, Fiat will be bankrupt in 10 years. I think that the losses of thousands of union jobs may be the best thing possible. The Union fatcats are getting rich now, put the American people are starting to turn on this and it may be better in the long run for Obama to win on this one. Me need enough angry people out there protesting and calling their representative that Obama's health care communization attempt gets stopped by dems and repubs scared of losing their seats. There are times to pick you battles and this one is small compared to energy tax, and commie-care.
Yes, you want proof of the lack of spine by the Republicans and I wonder why conservatives support them and not form another party, is Ruth Bader Ginsburg. This woman is just as bad, if not worse, than Sotomayor. Believes in international law over our own sovereignty, prostition is constitutionally protected, infancide to one year of age, the age of sexual conscent be at age of 12. These were what was known from the confirmation hearings. The final vote 95-3. Only 3 had a backbone. Clearance Thomas, who is black if nobody noticed, who was very well qualified and well spoken and written and in my opinion should be supreme justice. His vote. 49-49 with Dan Quale casting the tie breaking yes vote.
